Vad du kommer att gilla med hemmet
We love our historic home, with modern conveniences, and a lovely large, private garden. We love it for its character, its simplicity, and its central location. We are in the heart of historic Charlottetown and walk to almost everything we need.
The house was built in 1827 by the builder Henry Smith (his brother Isaac was the architect of Province House, the provincial legislative assembly, that's a block away).

Vad du kommer att gilla med grannskapet
Our home is in the heart of downtown Charlottetown, with everything—many restaurants, public library, grocery store, art gallery, cinema—within walking distance.
Some examples of what's nearby:
Four blocks south you'll find the waterfront, Charlottetown Harbour. There's a marina, a food hall, a large park, and several waterfront restaurants (there's also a new independent art supply store on the way, located in an historic house). Across the water you'll see the bedroom community of Stratford, now easily reached by foot and bicycle with a new separated bike path.
Just up the street a block is "Victoria Row," a pedestrian street in summer, filled with good restaurants, evening entertainment, and good coffee. Another block further is the brand new Charlottetown Library Learning Centre, a public library reconceived, with a coffee shops, maker space, video game lounge (and also a lot of books, CDs, and magazines!).
Confederation Court Mall is two blocks away: it's not a "shopping mall" in the suburban sense, but rather a reimagined use of the courtyard inside an historic city block. You'll find helpful services there like a book/stationery store, pharmacy, small grocery store, etc.
There are scores of restaurants within walking distance, and you'll find everything from classic PEI meals like lobster and seafood to excellent Lebanese food, Indian food, Italian food, and Vietnamese food. The city's restaurant scene has never been better; we are spoiled by choice.
There's a large grocery store about 20 minutes walk (10 minute cycle) north, through a residential neighbourhood, and another one a bit further midtown. Between the two you'll find almost anything you're looking for: produce, seafood, meats, groceries. There are also several specialty grocers nearby.

Övrigt
There are three bedrooms in the house, all on the upper floor. The primary bedroom sports a new king-sized bed; the secondary bedroom a new queen bed; the third bedroom has a comfortable queen blow-up mattress.
As an alternative, the third bedroom can be used as a multi-purpose room. It has a desk, a large round table, a comfortable easy chair, and a view to the back garden. Lisa uses this room as her yoga room.
There's a very large washroom on the upper floor, equipped with clawfoot tub, separate built-in shower, toilet, sink, as well as clothes washer and dryer.
Downstairs there's a modest-sized kitchen at the back. There's a full-sized fridge/freezer, a range with oven, a Bosch dishwasher, and more ways to make coffee than you might every need (Gaggia espresso maker, V60 drip, Bodum, automatic drip), along with a good coffee grinder. The kitchen is well-equipped with all the china, silverware, pots and pans, and other accessories, you might need. There is a half-bath off the kitchen (sink and toilet only). The large kitchen windows overlook the garden.
Across the hall from the kitchen is a simple, large dining room, with a Danish modern table that will sit six comfortably. The dining room is part of a larger dining room-living room that together are bright and airy. The living room has a modern sectional, two solid leather chairs, and accent lamps. It's a lovely place to spend time, and there are views of the sandstone parish hall immediately across the street, and the spires of the Basilica a few blocks away.
Across the hall from the living room, at the front of the house, is a library. The library has a comfortable sofa, and is lined with books on all manner of subjects -- cookbooks, travel books, printing books. We spend a lot of time in the library.
The back garden, reached through a mud room at the end of the lower floor hall, has a wooden deck with an outdoor couch and chairs, and two steps down lead to a very deep green oasis in the city -- "oh my, what a large garden," people often say when they see if for the first time. The garden has flowers, apple, cherry, and plum trees, and is backed by an ancient carriage house, which we don't use, but which frames the garden nicely.
There's concrete driveway to the right of the house, offering two parking spaces (unusual for downtown properties), and a level 2 EV charger.
Cleaning fee is optional: leave the house as you found it, or leave $150 cash on departure so we can have the house cleaned.
