Beaches In Scituate:
2024 Scituate Beach Non-Resident Sticker Update! The Town of Scituate Select Board has given unanimous approval regarding beach stickers, requiring them from Memorial Day.
However, if you don’t want to get a beach sticker, you can park downtown Scituate and walk across the causeway to Peggotty Beach.
The Town of Scituate operates six oceanfront beach areas with seven designated swimming areas. These include Egypt Beach, Humarock Beach, Minot Beach (two areas), Museum Beach, Peggotty Beach, and Sand Hills Beach. These areas are greatly affected by the changing tides of the Atlantic Ocean. Commonly, designated swimming areas conform to certain standards, the most common of which include a sandy beach area and a gradual slope into the water.
Lifeguard protective services are offered beginning in late June of each year and ending by Labor Day. Approximately 30 Lifeguards, a Lifeguard Supervisor and an Assistant Lifeguard Supervisor are hired seasonally to staff these areas. As staffing levels are depleted, beach areas change from guarded to unguarded beaches.
There are porta potties available at each beach. Water testing is done weekly by the Scituate Board of Health. Beach stickers are required and strictly enforced by the Scituate Police Department.
