If you haven't yet heard of Asheville you are missing out! Frequently showing up on 'Best Small Cities' lists Asheville sits smack in the middle of the Blue Ridge mountains of southern Appalachia. It is a foodie paradise, a dream for outdoorsy folks, and the center of a thriving artistic community. Whether your tastes lead you to a driving tour of local cheese producers, exploring art and artistic expression in the River Art's District, getting your adventure on in the mountains or on the water, exploring Biltmore gardens, or stuffing your belly full of amazing food - Asheville has you covered!
Weaverville is a quiet community about 20 minutes north of downtown Asheville and is an extension of the artsy foodie vibe of its larger sibling. Our house is located in a beautiful neighborhood about 10 minutes outside of Weaverville, and our neighborhood feels like a park, bursting with green in the summer, vibrant with reds and oranges in the fall, and softly misted all winter long. Being in the mountains it is cooler than more central or eastern N Carolina in the summer while offering mild winters.
We have a large patio (partly covered, partly open) and a fenced in yard, perfect for your well behaved pooch. A covered front patio with a sweeping front yard and a woodland behind us offers plenty of privacy. And Pisgah national forest and the Blue Ridge Parkway, with their enchanting hiking trails and beautiful waterfall drives, are about 15 minutes up the road. Walking the neighborhood is equally delightful, with very little traffic, and even a little lending library on the corner. We love our home, it feels like a vacation in and of itself, it's a wonder we ever leave! (And we often don't!)
The house has two primary bedrooms: a downstairs master with a king bed and full bath, and a large spare room upstairs with a queen, its own bathroom and tv/sitting area. We have a full sized memory foam pull out sofa in one of our offices for additional sleeping space if needed, and a blow up queen mattress as well if that is desired. We have reliable high speed internet, cable television, a fireplace, a grill, and a car is available by prior arrangement. We also have a Play Station in the upstairs spare room for any gamers in the group.
Our home is in the Appalachian mountains, our property is on the side of a mountain, and the neighborhood is hilly. We do have a main level master, and the garage is level with the house, but the neighborhood might be challenging for differently-abled people.

The neighborhood is quiet, and we are near the end of a cul-de-sac so our home is even quieter. The nights are dark, with a neighborhood ordinance against bright lights outside of homes and no street lights it is excellent for star gazing and firefly watching during the summer. Deer and turkeys are frequent visitors, and in the summer you may spot a black bear roaming through the neighborhood. It is walker friendly and we even have a small community library just down at the corner!
It feels miles from anywhere, and yet is 10 minutes to the nearest grocery store and some excellent restaurants, and about 25 minutes from the River Arts District, West Asheville, and downtown. Smoky Mountain National Park is about an hour away. If you are looking for a quiet paradise close to the bustle of Asheville, this may be the perfect place for you.

The house has wifi and cable television and we have a PS4 for any gamers that might be around. We have mountain bikes and a car you can use *with prior arrangement*. We are dog friendly, and they are welcome on our furniture, but please make sure your pooch is well behaved and will not be destructive to our home, our furniture, or use the indoors as their toilet.
We are primarily interested in simultaneous swaps right now, and with the complications of a global pandemic, we are mostly staying stateside right now. We are fully vaccinated, and thoroughly clean our home in advance of a swap. We are very flexible in terms of availability dates as well as destinations, so if you have something in mind please reach out! We have two well behaved dogs and do prefer traveling with them when possible.
