Nuremberg is one of the most popular tourist destinations in Germany (with 45 million visitors per annum, coming from all parts of the world), and has been ranked consistently among the 25 cities worldwide offering the highest quality of living (mercer.com). With 530,000 inhabitants, it is the second largest city in Bavaria, and offers all the shopping facilities one would expect to find. Nuremberg was considered to be the most beautiful medieval city in Germany, and substantial traces of this legacy – an impressive castle dating from the eleventh century, city walls and fortifications, Gothic churches, patrician town houses and artisans' quarters – have either survived the destructions during World War II or have since been reconstructed. Its most famous artist is Albrecht Dürer, whose town house is open to the public, and some of whose works are exhibited in one of Nuremberg's many museums . The history of the fascistic Nazi party is still embodied in the architectural monstrosities of the former rally grounds ('Reichsparteitagsgelände'), as is that of the Nuremberg trials in the courtroom where they were held.
On the Pegnitz River and the Rhine–Main–Danube Canal, it lies in the Bavarian administrative region of Middle Franconia, and is the largest city and the unofficial capital of Franconia. Nuremberg forms with the neighbouring cities of Fürth, Erlangen and Schwabach a continuous conurbation with a total population of 800,376 (2019), which is the heart of the urban area region with around 1.4 million inhabitants, while the larger Nuremberg Metropolitan Region has approximately 3.6 million inhabitants. The city lies about 170 kilometres (110 mi) north of Munich. It is the largest city in the East Franconian dialect area
Nürnberg is located in one of the most interesting landscape areas in Germany. my apartment is a central starting point for many excursions in the surrounding area. Do you love exciting nature, historic castles, churches, palaces or medieval townscapes? Do you like cycling, hiking, climbing, kayaking? Do you prefer bathing or sailing fun? You can find all of this near Nuremberg. Two weeks of vacation just flew by.

A lot of locals love to hike or cycle in the region around Nuremberg (with plenty of rustic beer gardens). The event Nuremberg is probably most famous for is the annual Christmas market ("Christkindlmarkt") which is held in December. Plenty of small, much more atmospheric Christmas markets are around town during the holiday season.
