Comfortable detached house with garden, near the harbour of the family holiday resort of Newcastle on the north-east coast of Ireland. (The picture above shows the back of the house - it is the large one in the middle.) Mod cons - oil central heating, wood-burning stove, TV, DVD player, washing machine and dryer, dishwasher, computer with fast wifi etc..
Right beside the Mourne Mountains with beautiful scenery, rock climbing and hill walking. Panoramic sea views from windows. A long uncrowded beach. Nice neighbours. Good pubs with traditional music. Restaurants. Seaweed baths. Nature reserves. Forest parks for good walking and off-road cycling. Two kayaks and a plastic open canoe available to experienced canoeists. Bicycles - car with roof and cycle racks. Great variety of wildlife experiences. Historic houses and sites within visiting range.
Belfast 48km, Dublin 144km. Ferries to Scotland and England are within an hour's drive. Belfast City Airport is an hour away, Belfast International Airport (Easyjet, Aer Lingus, Ryanair, British Airways etc) an hour and a half, and Dublin Airport (Ryanair, Aer Lingus etc) two hours away. Bus stop is beside the house and nearest train station is Newry.
The house has gardens on all four sides, level at the front and sloping on the other sides, with mature bushes and trees and sea views. It has three full bedrooms and a study/bedroom.. There are two bathrooms and a separate toilet.
Nord-Est d'Irlande, au bord de la mer, au fond de la montagne. Maison de famille, une kilometre du centre ville, pres des petits commerces. Jardin, tout confort, des vues panoramiques, pres du port de peche, des restaurants, des petits magasins. Escalade, randonnee, golf. Les forets, les plages longues sauvages. Des bons pubs, beaucoup de la musique traditionnel celtique. Des bains therapeutiqes aux algues. Des kayaks á la disposition des visiteurs experimentes. Des bicyclettes. Des voisins agréables. Des sites historiques et des chateaux dans la région. Pas trop loin des aéroports - Belfast (90 minutes) et Dublin (deux heures). Ferrys de Belfast á l'Écosse ou á l'Angleterre (une heure).

Our neighbours are friendly.
Newcastle has a wonderful setting by the Irish Sea on Dundrum Bay - it is the place mentioned in the song, 'Where the Mountains of Mourne Sweep Down to the Sea.' The house is in a quiet, peaceful, relaxed street overlooking a small harbour, not far from the centre of a traditional bucket-and-spade seaside town which gets very lively in the summer months.
There are traditional Irish music festivals and walking festivals every summer and many of the local pubs have regular weekly music sessions. We are right beside the shore and the hills. The area is very popular with golfers and hill walkers.
We are willing to swap cars, but if you prefer, or your children want to explore on their own, some buses pass the door. It is very easy to go for walks directly from the house without even having to get in the car, as we live right where the forest and the Mournes begin. If you prefer not to drive, you can even walk along the beach for three miles to Murlough nature reserve and stop for a meal in a good restaurant in Dundrum.
The area is great for keen wildlife watchers, starting with the sea birds, seals, porpoises, dolphins and so on which can be seen from the windows of the house. (We once exchanged with a party of Spanish golfers who loved Northern Ireland's courses - they golfed every day for three weeks.)
