Our lovely summer cottage is totally isolated from city noise. This is a unique piece of Finnish nature.
There is two buildings, the main cottage and a sauna. Barbecue place is near the lake.
The Puula lake is one of the most beautiful and cleanest lakes in the world.
There is no running water (no shower or washing machine) and only outside biodegradable toilet. There is electricity and lots of parking area. There is one canoe, one rowing boat and 2 stand-up boards.
The road to the cottage is sandy, very narrow and has steep hills. However, the cottage is accessible with a normal car, we have four-wheel drive. Electric cars cannot be charged at the cottage. The cottage is on a steeply sloping plot and is not designed for small children. The beach is a child-friendly sandy beach with a jetty.
The sauna is a very traditional Finnish wood-fired sauna. It means that it is a one-time heater. When you want to wash up it takes about 3-4 hours to heat the sauna. After that, enjoyment is guaranteed. The sauna also heats the water for washing.
The water for the dishes is heated with wood in a separate water bath.

Hirvensalmi is a small municipality of 2100 inhabitants in Finland´s lake district. Hirvensalmi lies in Southern Savonia, approximately 200 kilometers Northeast from Helsinki. Lake Puula is enjoyed by paddlers and fishing tourists. Large forest areas are great for hiking and berry picking.
