Hva kommer du til å elske i dette hjemmet
My unique home is nestled in a tropical lush rainforest garden boarded by mountains with pristine and largely deserted beaches only 10- 20 minutes away.
The rainforest block covers 2000 m² of lush tropical vegetation
I think you will love living in the two Balinese inspired pavilions , connected by a 8 m x 3 m covered walkway.
Both pavilions are hexagonal in shape providing multiple outlooks and view corridors to the external environment.
They also capture breezes from every direction. You are indeed holidaying in the rainforest!
There are 3 queen sized bedrooms each with substantial built in wardrobes.
One of the QS beds is a comfortable Japanese Futon bed - which is on the floor , as per Japanese custom.
For those with mobility issues , there is a standard QS bed in an air conditioned bedroom upstairs , with bathroom, kitchen , lounge area and tropical outdoor living space all on one level
Two large full bathrooms, one with a lovely sunken bathtub with expansive private rainforest views.
Cool off under the refreshing outdoor shower surrounded by tropical plants after a visit to the beach or following a swim in the private, completely secluded lagoon saltwater pool
Brush turkeys, geckos, green tree frogs, lizards and many and varied butterflies abound in the rainforest garden
I love sitting in my outdoor garden room relaxing with nature - watching the sunbirds & Ulysses butterflies!

Hva du vil elske med dette nabolaget
I live in tropical Cairns, Far North Queensland.
My Balinese-style sanctuary is nestled in a quiet cul-de-sac, surrounded by friendly and reliable neighbours. There is no traffic noise.
Cairns International Airport is a mere 10 minute transfer away, however the nearby mountainous Conservation Park cuts out aircraft noise, and you will find yourself in a tropical relaxing Haven
Cairns city centre (it’s a small city!) is a 15 min drive south, also serviced by a local reasonably frequent bus network
Even though you may just want to relax in the rainforest garden and sit by the pool all day you may want to venture out and about! ?! …
After a 6-7 minute walk you can discover Freshwater Station, Kuranda Rail .
Take a scenic train trip up to historic Kuranda, and enjoy the heritage markets full of local handicrafts
Also in Kuranda is the Australian Butterfly Sanctuary- home to the largest butterfly flight aviary and exhibit in the Southern Hemisphere. One of my favourite spots.
Kuranda Koala Gardens is home to an array of delightful Australian animals.
You can take the opportunity hold or pat a koala!
Marvel at the spectacular Barron Falls nearby Kuranda , take a bushwalk and return home via the Skyrail overlooking the dense, lush rainforest canopy
A short 10 min drive or bus ride towards town ( or 20 min bicycle ride – on the flat) you will find the Cairns Botanic Gardens, renowned for having one of the best exhibitions of tropical plants in Australia.
There are scenic walking tracks - on level ground, as well as more adventurous hikes along the red, yellow, blue and green arrow hiking tracks. These well graded tracks vary in length from 1.5–7 km.
10 -15 minutes drive westwards you will discover beautiful cascading waterfalls, rock pools and a variety of hiking trails around Stoney Creek , Fairy Falls and Crystal Cascades
5 minutes walk away is a large tropical nursery, Limberlost, which also hosts a delightful cafe and gift shop.
Enjoy delicious coffee and brunch after wandering amongst the beautiful tropical plants and flowers
Magical Fitzroy Island is only a 40 min ferry trip away - enjoy snorkelling , spotting reef fish, green turtles and colourful coral
Hike to the Summit of Fitzroy Island for spectacular 360° views of the Great Barrier Reef
Or dive the Great Barrier Reef - heading out to the outer Reef from Fitzroy or from Cairns Marina
Alternatively, sit on the beach, read your book and relax by the ocean
There is also reasonable accommodation on Fitzroy Island – Island Suites are best.
So peaceful listening to the water lap the shore in the evening
As well as the incredible Great Barrier Reef , the World Heritage listed ancient Daintree rainforest is also in close proximity to my home.
I believe it is the only place in the world where 2 World Heritage listed areas sit side-by-side
You can take day trips ( or live aboard overnight trips ) to snorkel and dive on the Great Barrier Reef departing from Cairns Marina or Port Douglas Marina
Staying out on the reef overnight is an amazing experience.
Reef sharks come out to play after sunset.
The “sharks in the dark” dive experience was amazing!
Beautiful Palm Cove is about 20 minutes drive north and Port Douglas approximately one hour
Port Douglas has 2 International standard 18 hole golf courses if that tickles your fancy
Hartley’s Crocodile Adventures is a 35 km drive north toward Port Douglas.
A must-see - especially for the kids!
So much to see and explore!
