Hva du vil elske med dette nabolaget
Port Melbourne is a sunny bay side suburb with gleaming modern architecture; look closer and find restored workers cottages and grand old pubs paying homage to the bean and barley in typical Melbourne style.
An inner suburb of Melbourne, Australia, it's 4 km south-west from Melbourne's Central Business District. Split between the local government areas of Melbourne and Port Phillip the area to the north of the West Gate Freeway is in the City of Melbourne. The area to the south is in the City of Port Phillip.
The suburb is bordered by the shores of Hobsons Bay and the lower reaches of the Yarra River. Port Melbourne covers a large area, which includes the distinct localities of Fishermans Bend, Garden City and Beacon Cove.
Beacon Cove and Station Pier
Don your designer gear and pound the palm-lined path that hugs the Port Melbourne foreshore. Deviate past architect-designed houses and the high-rise apartment blocks overlooking Port Phillip Bay. Catch your breath in Beach Street's eateries and find a spot for a beachfront beverage. Share snacks and sea breeze on the Bay or splurge at Waterfront restaurants and people-watch as the Spirit of Tasmania ferry arrives, and the international cruise ships dock.
Back in Bay Street
Step back from the beach to Bay Street. Shop up a storm at swanky boutiques, scout quality coffees at Creme, Balderdash, Grey & Bliss and find best French provisions at Noisette.
The formerly industrial Port Melbourne has been subject to intense urban renewal over the past decade. As a result, Port Melbourne is a desirable diverse and historic area, featuring industrial and port areas along the Yarra, to open parklands, bayside beaches, exclusive apartments and Bay Street's shopping strip restaurants and cafes. The suburb also forms a major transport link from east to west, home to one end of the West Gate Bridge.
