The Old Parish Poorhouse is a grade 2 listed stone-built historic building dating back to 1744 which has been sympathetically restored to blend its historic features with modern day comforts and was featured in “Period House” magazine .
Each room has an eclectic style to create a different but relaxing, warm and romantic atmosphere. The house sleeps up to 10 people in 4 bedrooms, 2 are large double beds, one with en suite & one with shower & wash basin. One with 50inch smart TV. The other bedroom is a double which has a single bed also & a washbasin & shaver point.
The 4th bedroom downstairs contains a double bed & a mezzanine area that will sleep 2 children or 1 adult ( 3/4 bed size) this has an en-suite bathroom . This has a 44inch smart TV.
There is also double sofa bed in the keeper's lounge.
We have a main bathroom upstairs .
All bedrooms have shaver points.
There is a laundry with washer and drier.
There is a downstairs toilet.
There are 4 TV ‘s …….3 smart TV’s ( 2x50inch & 1 x 44inch) & a TV (44inch) with an Amazon fire stick.
Cleaner...the house is serviced every week.
Beds made up & towels provided.
Hot tub towels & slippers provided.
All bed linen is provided.
Arrival/departure is on a Friday as our cleaner comes that day.
With touches from the East and sprinkles of Victorian influence and innovative details, walking into the Poorhouse is like stepping back in time.
Outside is a delightful country cottage garden, packed full of interesting plants, trees, shrubs and herbs. Wander through the meandering paths and enjoy its beauty. There are also two seating areas where you can sit and relax, enjoy a drink or a meal.
Relax in the soft tub, barbecue, play pool or dine alfresco.
There is a tree swing, a swing ball and a number of children's activities in the paddock
The house is Located in the popular country village of Winster, in the scenic heart of the Peak District National Park with a historic Market Hall, churches, a village shop, post office and two excellent pubs - all within easy walking distance of the house.
Ideally situated for the picturesque town of Bakewell on the river Wye and the stately home of Chatsworth House close by and Haddon Hall ( just 9mins to the car park) Alton Towers is also only a 40-minute drive away.
The Peak District landscape offers a whole range of outdoor activities including, walking in magnificent countryside, rock climbing, golfing, canoeing, sailing, caving and cycling, with popular places such as Matlock Bath, the Tissington Trail, Carsington Water and Dovedale only a brief drive away.
There is also an abundance of National Trust properties within easy reach for day trips out.
