*A charming village with all the amenities, on the doorstep of Brighton and Hove*
Our house is a sweet family home with a garden, in a quiet area two train stops from Brighton on London Victoria line (10 mins) and under 1 hour's journey to London. We have four bedrooms upstairs (master bedroom has an en suite), a large well equipped kitchen and a lounge downstairs, plus a sitting room with a piano. Also downstairs is a toilet and a utility room. You can have breakfast outside, and since ours is a westerly facing garden, you can enjoy the beautiful sunset over dinner and a glass of wine. All necessary shops are within a short walk (supermarkets, butcher's, bakery), you don't need to drive out to buy your supplies. There are several lovely cafes where you can have breakfast and lunch, too (and one of them does lovely tapas nights on Friday and Saturday!). Several pubs with excellent British cuisine are within short distance as well. Playground and a small skate park are about 15 mins walk. A train station is a 5-minute walk - with direct trains to London, Brighton.

Hva du vil elske med dette nabolaget
The area we live in will appeal to many travellers' tastes. Firstly, we are very conveniently located for Gatwick airport - under half an hour on the train leaving right from the airport, and our house is a 5 minute walk from the Hassocks station.
Are you coming to improve your English? Brighton (10 mins by train, 20 mins by car to the centre) is one of the UK's most popular cities for international language schools. Just pick the one that fits your purpose. Check some reviews here: https://www.languageinternational.co.uk/english-schools-brighton-21751
Would rather relax and explore? We are within easy reach of the beaches and vibrancy of the city of Brighton - 10 min train journey takes you straight into the heart of Brighton, where you can experience the life of the city by the sea: take the i360 tower's observational tour at the seafront, or visit the Brighton Pier with its 'Palace of Fun', a choice of rides and much more - see here: https://www.brightonpier.co.uk/. No trip to Brighton is complete without a visit to The Lanes, of course, with their winding alleys lined with independent boutiques, cafes (including a hot chocolate bar!), cosy restaurants and art galleries. This can be followed by a relaxing walk on the beach enjoying the lovely bars and restaurants (Riddle & Finns is a famous and excellent fish place and Rockwater Hove does excellent cocktails!).
If you fancy a trip further out - the scenic white cliffs of the Seven Sisters are within 45 mins drive from our home. If you want to sit by the white cliffs and enjoy a swim on a beach slightly quieter than the busy Brighton - Saltdean is a great place, with a lovely cafe on the beach, and you can park for free by the Saltdean lido (a famous Art Deco landmark, too, where you can swim and sunbathe!).
If you are into historic sites, the beautiful Lewes with its 11th century Castle, Ann of Cleves House museum, as well as beautiful cobbled streets and lovely cafes, is within easy reach - Lewes is a short train journey if you don't want to drive. There is also Leonard and Virginia Woolf's house where you can see the writing room where she created some of her best known works! Don’t forget Depot - the lovely cinema and restaurant near Lewes station, with great atmosphere and cakes.
Arundel Castle, a 30-min drive, is "one of West Sussex's greatest attractions with a history spanning nearly a thousand years" (that's from visitarundel website and the castle is indeed impressive).
A visit to the cinematic Rye, a lovely English market town, with its historic buildings and charming English pubs, quirky shops and medieval inns and cafes, as well as Camber Sands, one of England's finest beaches, would make a great day trip, too. And if you are into opera and don't want to pay the ticket price of the Royal Opera House but want to enjoy the world famous productions - Glyndebourne, the Royal Opera House in the country, is a half an hour drive. Make sure to book in advance as tickets might sell out fast and bring picnic! This is a truly British experience - Glyndebourne with its opera and every posh gown you can imagine within a beautiful countryside setting and amazing garden!
If you want to explore the famous National Trust parks and gardens - Sheffield Park and Nymans Gardens are within half an hour. Battle, where you can visit the actual 1066 Battle of Hastings battleground, is an hour away. So is Leeds Castle where you can go on a segway tour over its beautiful grounds (including at sunset), as well as enjoy a great lunch at the local cafe with historic interior, after walking around the castle.
If you have kids who like Go Ape - go to Tilgate Park at Crawley - 30 min drive. You can also go Segwaying there (needs booking).
We also live near a national park South Downs and lots of excellent walks - either on the hills or through the woods. You can combine a walk with a visit to a pub - for instance, walk to the Chattri war memorial on the South Downs (fantastic views!) and return via Ditchling, the village next to Hassocks, for a great lunch at one of the excellent pubs (The Bull is great!) Do get in touch to ask what else you can do in the area as there is a lot more!
