Hva kommer du til å elske i dette hjemmet
Our cottage is on lovely Lake Cowichan, Vancouver Island (about 90 kms (55 miles) north of Victoria). Three bedrooms, two baths, dock, BBQ, upper and lower decks and verandas - all you need for summer fun for up to 8. The lake is right across the road, with our own private dock for our canoe and two kayaks. The amount of sandy beach varies from year to year, as the lake is spring fed from the local mountain springs, but its clear and clean and always deep enough to dive right in off the end of the dock, so it's fantastic for swimming. The path to the beach is a bit steep, so if you have significant mobility issues you will want to talk to me more about it. We enjoy relaxing on the front veranda overlooking the lake, or on the back patio, where the BBQ is located, or in the hot tub, newly installed in 2020. "Cowichan" means warm lands in the local First Nations language, so its almost always hot and sunny from June though to mid/late-September, but the cottage stays quite cool even in the hottest of days. And we have lots of sunny areas with plenty of shade for those who prefer it, with room to gather, but enough privacy for those who prefer to curl up on the swing with a book. And although summer is high season, we love it here year round, with a great gas fireplace to keep it cosy and netflix to keep you entertained.
Hva du vil elske med dette nabolaget
The cottage is about 1 km from the centre of town and all the amenities (grocery store, a number of restaurants, ice cream shops, liquor and hardware stores), and a short drive to a beautiful rain forest preserve with hiking trails. Fly fishing or tubing on the river are all nearby. Or just relax, fish or swim off of our dock. The western terminus of the TransCanada Trail is about 1 km away and plus lots of other trails for hiking and biking. Lots of wineries, farmers markets, golf courses and other outdoor activities in the area. The Cowichan Valley is known as Canada's Provence, with lavender farms, wineries, a tea farm, and some interesting places to visit like the Raptor Sanctuary and the very new Hand of Man Gallery in Maple Bay.
Otters, deer, elk and even the occasional black bear may visit, to give you a real taste of the outdoors. And you can view the amazing tidal pools at Botanical Beach, an hour drive away, or take the circle drive from Victoria to Botanical Beach and then onto Lake Cowichan, or the reverse.

We are lucky enough to have a condo in Victoria so are not interested in exchanges to Victoria, the Capital Region District or the Saanich peninsula.
And we really like the whole home exchange thing, so are not typically interested in points.
