Welcome to our home and welcome to Hanmer Springs, a very beautiful part of the South Island of New Zealand. We live 130kms north, west of the city of Christchurch, at the foothills of the Southern Alps.
My husband and I love to travel. We are flexible for exchanges and dates - either simultaneous or non-simultaneous., although we prefer to exchange cars.
We live in a comfortable, modern house (210 sq metres), on 12 hectares, 7 kms from Hanmer Springs Village, with magnificent views to the mountains. It is quiet, peaceful and totally private, yet we are close to a vibrant busy tourist resort and to some of the most amazing New Zealand outdoor activities.
There are walks and hiking trails, mountain bike tracks and forest strolls. The famous St James Walkway, a 3-4 day hike is near and there are many other hiking and outdoor opportunities, including horse treks, fishing and hunting. New Zealand's spectacular wilderness is right at our door-step.
There is a golf course 10 minutes away and the Village has activities for any age. Perhaps a bungy jump is on your bucket list, or a jet boat ride ? What about a quadbike farm experience, mini-golf, mountain-biking, river rafting, paint ball, or pampering at the spa and a swim in the beautiful thermal pools ? It's all there....and more ! Great restaurants, cafes and pubs.
In Winter there is skiing at Mt Lyford, about a 45 minute drive. It's a small local ski field.
We are only 90 minutes to a major city (Christchurch) and the wine growing region of Waipara, is about 45 minutes drive. World-class sauvignon blanc and pinot noir wines.
We wake to the sounds of birds and to an amazing ever changing landscape.

Hanmer Springs is an alpine spa , outdoor adventure and tourist village, set in a large valley, 385 m above sea level and is surrounded by forests, mountains and New Zealand's spectacular outdoors. Here the summers are hot and dry and the winters are cold, with snow around the house 3-4 times a year.
Hanmer Springs is 130 kms north west of Christchurch and is an ideal location to explore the northern part of the South Island.
