Što će Vam se svidjeti u vezi s ovim domom
When you enter my street, you will notice my house immediately! It is the cutest, most cosy-looking house of the street, with a sitting bench and flowers in front of the door. Passers-by tend to take a break on the bench, waving through the window.
When you open the door to my living room, you will immediately feel the cosy vibe of my house. You will notice the vintage table, the big book shelves, the inviting sofa, and the small but practical kitchen. And most of all, you will love the tiny details. The curves of the storing shelves in the wall or the cellar door, the interestingly painted stairs, the colourful lamps, and all kinds of small little things that I have added to make this house a home: beautiful post cards, vintage finds, nice porcelain, candles, old toys etc. I am not really the minimalist type (I discovered there might even be a word for my style: 'cluttercore' is the new trend :))
You will find lots of books in my house, both fiction and non-fiction, for adults and for children. There is the sofa to read, and the little room on the first floor with a swinging chair or a rotan chair, or maybe you prefer the sheep skin or the bed to lie on while reading? When you want to relax and/or stretch, there are yoga mats, bolsters and blocks that you might use.
Maybe Mia will be around as well, my little cat. Even though she is already 11 years old and becoming a grandmother in cat's years, she still looks like a kitten: slender and vivid. She really loves to cuddle, to be stroked and brushed, and you can even have quite funny conversations with her, since she is quite responsive with her meows. Mia is the most sensitive cat you can imagine, keeping you company when you might feel lonely or sad, and making your stay in my house even more cosy!

Što će Vam se svidjeti u ovom susjedstvu
I live in Berchem, 300m from Driekoningenstraat/Statiestraat, the street that ends/starts in Berchem railway station. This street is always alive, even on Sundays. You can find ANYTHING in this street, from little screws to children's clothes, from olives to poke bowls, from wine bars to pita bars, from vintage gift shops to hairdressers. On Saturdays, there is a market with fresh vegetables and yummy pastei de nata close by. You can have a drink in one of the many nice bars close by, eat a distinguished meal or a quick snack - whatever you like.
Only 750m away, is Het Groen Kwartier. This former military hospital has been reconverted to a car free living area and green park with a playground for kids, a petanque area, a bakery etc. At the heart of Groen Kwartier is The Jane, a 2 star Michelin Restaurant by famous chef Nick Bril. However, for me, Groen Kwartier is most of all a place to sit on a bench with a book, lie in the grass on a blanket, have a picknick, or play with my little cousins.
Lying next to Het Groen Kwartier, is PAKT - a pretty cool city hub with a focus on sustainable food and some Berlin vibes. PAKT contains my favorite coffee bar (Caffenation, a coffee roastery with coffee bar), a very nice pizza place (Standard Pizza), a bar/microbrewery to try out all kinds of known and very little known craft beers (Speciale Belge), a restaurant with organic food (Racine), a city plant store, etc. The rooftops of PAKT are worth a visit too: they consist of rooftop gardens (chickens and bees included) where a local community grows its own food.
For beer lovers: there is not just Special Belge close by to discover all kinds of beers, but you can also visit Brewery De Coninck (500m), or experience some nice typical Belgian bars just around the corner of my house: Rood-Wit or Het Been. In both bars, they occasionally organize concerts or performances, for the extra special vibe.
There are some parks close by too: Wolvenbergpark or Brilschanspark are nice to take a break from the busy city life. A bit further away, but definitely worth the visit, is Middelheim, one of the oldest and most original open-air museums in the world, the perfect combination of art and nature.
There are some interesting guided tours in the neighbourhood, centering on the Jewish orthodox area close by or or the more 'hip' Berchem.

Dodatne informacije
While I'm away, you can use my bicyle and/or a 'velo' city bike (of which I will leave the card for you). The velo station is pretty close by, and a nice way to discover the city of Antwerp. My house is also close to all major tramlines, which is another convenient option to travel within the city. Cause Antwerp is worth visiting a lot! It is a lively town with a rich cultural history, nice museums, lots of nice bars and restaurants, beautiful stores (hello fashion town!). There is always something to do: a festival, a party, a guided tour...
I will leave a list with recommendations for you, with my favourite places to go to and all kinds of more or less famous treasures to discover.
Important to realize when you consider staying at my place: it is very much possible to use my house as the starting point for your Belgian discoveries, also outside of Antwerp. Belgium is small but very convenient when it comes to discovering other historical or cultural highlights, and Antwerp is practically located. The capital of Brussels, the idyllic Ghent and university town Leuven are each cities that have a lot to offer, at less than 45 minutes by train. The beautiful city Mechelen even less than 15 minutes! Well-known Bruges is also just 70 minutes away. It even only takes one and a half hour to take a dip in the ocean at the Belgian seaside! In weekends, train tickets come with 50% discount.
