Što će Vam se svidjeti u vezi s ovim domom

My home is located in Leilani Estates which is the most welcoming subdivision in the Puna District. The house was once a drying shed for marijuana production until I bought the two forested acres on which it is situated. Over the past ten years it’s been converted to a very unique and comfortable home, bearing no hint of its unusual history. The house is “off-grid” except for fast cable internet service. The maintenance-free solar system provides 115-volt electricity throughout the house. Ten skylights bath the interior with natural light while fifteen windows bring the outdoors in, with beautiful views of the surrounding forest and colorful tropical gardens. A screened lanai wraps around two sides of the house providing plenty of room for dining outside, reading, relaxing, or entertaining. The well-appointed kitchen has a gas range, a large refrigerator/freezer, a large pass-through to the lanai, a bar counter, and beautiful cabinets and countertops. The sunken living room has comfortable furniture and a wood stove for those chilly winter evenings. Hidden behind the Polynesian bark tapa cloth you’ll find a large television that pulls out and down, and a stereo system for streaming your own music. The office has a large desk that faces out into the yard and is a wonderful place to work or write. The master bedroom has its own bathroom and a spa/meditation room with a walk-in shower, claw foot tub, linen closet. The small guest bedroom also has its own bathroom with shower. Throughout the house you’ll find that many of the furnishing are hand built using wood from the local Ohia trees as well as Koa, curly Mango, Monkeypod, and Chocolate-heart Albizia. The entire house is decorated with paintings, block prints, lithographs, giclée, and carvings by my family and by well-known local artists. The house is designed for intimate living and Hawaiian style entertaining.

Što će Vam se svidjeti u ovom susjedstvu

The home is located on upper Mālama street in the older section of Leilani Estates. Most of the homes in this particular section where not designed and built by architects and contractors, but by artisans of one ilk or another, who wanted to live and work in nature. Upper Mālama street is unpaved which means that the neighborhood is quiet and has very little traffic. The pavement starts three blocks away so you can quickly get away to visit the many local attractions. Pāhoa Village is a mere ten minutes away and here you can find all the amenities you might want or need: grocery store, health food store, drug store, auto parts, hair solons, restaurants, galleries, etc. Walking along the Pāhoa Village boardwalk is like going back in time to the early 1900’s. Centrally located in the Puna District, there are many beautiful places to visit only 30-40 minutes away. For example, you can drive five minutes away and walk up the gentle 200-foot slope of the cinder cone known as Ahu’ailā’au, the “Forest Eater” (Fissure 8), which was the epicenter of the 2018 eruption. There are many outdoor markets where you can buy prepared foods, produce, and local-made gifts: Maku’u Sunday market, Poet’s Corner (daily), Kaimu and Pāhoa Saturday Markets, as well as many other roadside markets. On Wednesday night you can visit the now famous Uncle Robert’s night market at Kalapana to hear the Awa Band play local music, have dinner, shop for gifts, or walk the tail across the lava to the ocean. The famous “Red Road” follows the ocean and offers magnificent views of the jungle, lava flows, and the ocean. At the end of the road you can visit the new hot ponds at Pohoiki. Forty-five minutes up the mountain (mauka) you can visit Volcano National Park where there are many hikes, the Volcano House restaurant, and the Volcano Art Center which hosts the work of the islands most well-known artists. Historic Hilo town, our “big” little city on the ocean, is only 40 minutes away and is filled with shops, restaurants, museums, etc. There’s so much more I could list, but I’ll leave all that for you to discover.
