Our home is in a lush, tropical setting just steps from renowned Lanikai Beach, arguably one of the best beaches in Hawai'i. It is a cozy, beach-y family home and we love living here. We are so close to the beach that we never even wear shoes to get there - it's about a 2-minute walk.
We are a family of five (children from 12 to 5 years old), so the house is well suited to children. There's a swing, a treehouse, a trampoline, and, of course, the beach. We also have plenty of board games and a very large Lego collection, which is great for allowing mama and papa time to have a coffee on the lanai. :)
Our home is one of the original Lanikai beach houses and is about 100 years old. We are constantly improving it (we love a good house project!), so you will notice this in some of the photos. We also have bikes, a stand-up paddle board, surf boards, and a BBQ grill for your use while here.

We are in a quiet residential neighborhood, except for the many visitors who flock on sunny, windless days to Lanikai Beach at the end of our street. (details: https://loveoahu.org/beaches/lanikai-beach/) Our neighborhood is essentially a giant (~1.5 km long) cul-de-sac, and we are one block from a lovely park and small playground, so there's ample space to run around and play games with children. Our neighbors are our friends and you'll find it's a lovely and welcoming community of people here.
If you love water sports, this is the place for you. You can snorkel, surf, kayak, stand-up paddle, kite surf, wind surf, etc. - right from the end of our street. If you're into the idea of learning to wing foil (a new-ish sport that uses a hydrofoil board and a hand-held 'sail'), this is the place and you can get lessons here in our town of Kailua. Our children also do outrigger canoeing, another big water sport here.

The decor in some the photos has been updated since these photographs were taken, therefore some of the furniture and some design elements are different.
If you would be interested in dog-sitting, please let us know! This is in no way a condition of exchange, but would make our life easier. We have a medium (~40 lb) mixed breed dog named Sydney. She barks when new visitors first arrive, but then within minutes is usually following them around, tail-wagging, hoping for some attention. :)
Lastly, we have a small 'ohana, i.e., a separate cottage in the back garden. ('Ohana is Hawaiian for "family", literally, and is colloquially used to describe a small additional dwelling on the property that was historically used for extended family.) We have a long-term tenant who lives there and is very quiet and respectful. If you stay at our house you will meet them, though you'll rarely cross paths. :)
