This is our family home and we hope you will feel very comfortable here!
The house is on three floors with stair access only. It was built in the 1930s and we have refurbished it bit by bit since moving here in 2013.
The ground floor is comprised of an entrance hall, an open plan kitchen/dining room/living room which is light and bright, a small loo, and access to the cellar where the washer and dryer are located if you need them, as well as the garden.
In the living room we have a wood burner for cozy evenings in cooler weather, and TV, dvds and PS3 games. Keyboards and guitar are in the dining room if you are musically inclined, as well as plenty of jigsaw puzzles and family games for quiet days in. If you decide to use the sofabed in the living room, doors can be closed between the living room and dining room for privacy.
The kitchen is modern and we do a lot of cooking and baking, so it comes equipped with everything you should need during your stay. The dining room and kitchen have views of our garden and in warm weather the bifold door can be opened wide so you can enjoy the garden even more.
On the first floor are the family bathroom and two bedrooms: one has a queen sized bed and lovely views of the garden; the other has a single daybed that can be changed into a double.
On the top floor are a family shower room and two further bedrooms: in one room a single bed is tucked under the eaves, and in the other we have a single daybed which can be pulled out into a double bed. This room has the best views!
Our garden has fruit trees and strawberry plants, and blackberry and raspberry bushes, a trampoline, an old treehouse that is perpetually being painted by our girls, and in the summer the hammock is out. Depending on the season of your visit, you may be able to pick apples, pears, plums and berries. At the bottom of the garden we have a patio with parasol and garden furniture which gets the afternoon sun. Despite our home being on a relatively busy road, it feels very peaceful in the garden.
We have a cat and six hens, so you may be able to collect fresh eggs during your stay. The animals are easy to care for. Cleo the cat is very gentle and independent but loves a bit of attention!
You will find our place clean and tidy, but please don't expect a showhome! Our house is used to lots of people and activity, and we hope you will feel equally welcome and at ease here. We love living here and are excited to share our home with you.

Our home is 35 minutes drive from East Midlands airport and close to Nottingham which has good public transport links to London and other major cities.
We are a 15 minute by car from vibrant Nottingham city centre where there are all the usual department stores and high street shops, as well as independent shops, cinemas, theatres, music venues, clubs, pubs and cafes. You can go ice skating and bowling, and visit the Castle museum, Nottingham caves, several other interesting museums, and the oldest pub in England! Of course in Nottingham you can expect to see Robin Hood's name in all sorts of places.
Closer to our home it is a 10 minute walk to a lovely local park where there is a play area, mini golf, and space to kick around a football. Or 10 minutes up the hill takes you past another park to our local shopping area where you will find several shops, banks, and beauticians, a post office, library, and petrol station, cafes, restaurants, pubs, bars and takeaways. We love the walk up the hill, but if you are daunted by it, you can catch a bus 5 minutes from our front door to get to these shops. This bus can take you all the way into town, though we usually change buses at the local shops to get into town more quickly.
From our home it is a short drive into the countryside where you can take innumerable walks and visit places such as Newstead Abbey, Rufford Park, and Sherwood Forest visitor centre. We particularly enjoy Sherwood Pines where there are cycling, walking and running routes, play areas and a cafe in the middle of beautiful pine forests. You can hire bikes here for a few hours or the day. It is 35 minutes by car from our house to Sherwood Pines and similar for the other parks. There are also buses into the countryside which we can help you find out about if needed. If you like walking, the Peak district is about an hour's drive from our house and is truly worth visiting. Day trips to nearby towns such as Matlock, Bakewell and Melton Mowbray are also a lovely way to visit typically English places.
There are also leisure centres and bigger supermarkets within 15 minutes drive of our house, so you really don't have to go far to find what you want or need. There is so much to do in our area, and plenty of variety to please all sorts of people. We think you will have a great time visiting!
