Greetings from Aotearoa (New Zealand)!
Our 3-level terraced townhouse is part of a block of 4 in a resort of 26 townhouses. They are mostly owner-occupied, with some private holiday homes and some rental holiday accommodation.
We have 3 double bedrooms, each with their own full bathroom ensuite. We usually only have 2 of the 3 bedrooms available for exchanging but please enquire and we'll see what can be arranged.
Every floor has an uninterrupted view of the nearby beach and sea and doors that open right back to maximise the view and connection with the outdoors.
The middle/entry level has an open plan living/dining/kitchen with a walk-in pantry and a guest powder room.
The top floor has 2 double bedrooms, each with their own full ensuite bathroom.
The lower ground-level floor has the studio guest suite and a brand new laundry/utility room.
The guest suite on the lowest level is accessed via a shared front door on the mid-level, then down a flight of stairs on the right to the door at the bottom of the stairs. The bedroom also has ranch-slider doors that open all the way along to maximise the outdoor view.
There is a wet bar/kitchenette with a microwave oven, kettle and toaster as well as glassware, cutlery and crockery. The bench extension is also suitable for dining or as a desk.
A small patio area has an outdoor table and 2 chairs.
The king-sized bed in the studio suite can be split into two, long singles. All sheets and bedding are supplied, as are towels etc
We are looking forward to sharing our home with people from all over the world, particularly in places where we have friends and family. We are open to other places too, so be sure to enquire.
Finally, we charge a $70 cleaning and reset fee.

THE NEIGHBOURHOOD
Cable Bay is in a wider area known as Doubtless Bay, in the so called "winterless Far North".
Wikipedea says it best, "Doubtless Bay is a bay situated on the east coast of the Northland Region, north-east of Kaitaia, in New Zealand. It extends from Knuckle Point on Karikari Peninsula in the north to Berghan Point at Hihi in the south. There are rocky headlands, backed by many extensive beaches, such as Tokerau Beach, Taipa, Cable Bay, Coopers Beach, and Mangonui Harbour."
We have the perfect base to explore the surrounding wonders of the "winterless Far North". This includes 90 Mile Beach (official name Te-Oneroa-a-Tōhē); nearby Karikari Peninsula; the gorgeous Bay of Islands; and the historic Waitangi, where Te Tiriti o Waitangi (the founding document of Aotearoa New Zealand) was first signed in 1840.
The Butler Point Whaling Museum is a wonderful museum in nearby Hihi and well worth a visit. It’s a 20 minute drive away and you need to book ahead as the tours are demand driven.
There are a few restaurants and food trucks in the nearby villages of Coopers Beach, Taipā and Mangonui - famous for its fish & chips.
Down the hill from our place is a well-stocked local shop - we call them dairies in New Zealand. Known as The Cable Bay Store, it offers a large selection of New Zealand made ice-cream as well as cafe-style cabinet food and fish & chips and other takeaways (take-out) which you can order by phone and collect when they're ready.
The Coopers Beach Combined Bowling Club has a bar (and occasional bistro) which offers a welcoming venue for meeting locals.
Coopers Beach also has a lovely local supermarket (the 4 Square) which has a great wine and beer section.
The area has just about any other store you would need including a bakery, beauty salon, massage therapist, hardware store, physiotherapist and medical centre etc
About a 25 minute drive away is the bigger town of Kaitaia where you can find some of the "big box" stores like The Warehouse, Mitre 10, Pak 'N' Save, Bunnings and the Farmers Department Store. Nothing is very flash but everything you'd need is here.
Peekaboo in Kaitaia is a lovely, more upmarket but still casual restaurant.

GETTING TO OUR PLACE
BY CAR: BE AWARE: WE DRIVE ON THE LEFT SIDE OF THE ROAD IN NEW ZEALAND
We are a scenic and varied 4-5 hour drive by car from Auckland airport, if you're hiring a rental vehicle from the airport.
Whangārei is the half-way point on the road journey and the perfect spot to stop to stretch your legs and get a bite to eat. The Quail Café is our favourite stop but be sure to check that it's open.

Please note: Auckland Airport is the closest INTERNATIONAL airport.
If flying, you would need to transfer to the domestic airport for your 50 minute flight to the regional Bay of Islands/Kerikeri airport. It is then a 50 minute drive to our place.
There are land transport options from the Bay of Island/Kerikeri Airport to our place in Cable Bay. Be sure to make these arrangements ahead of your arrival. See this website for more information about taxi or rental car options: https://www.bayofislandsairport.co.nz/parking-transfers/
BY BUS:
InterCity (https://www.intercity.co.nz/travel-info/route-map) offers a bus service to and from Auckland but you'd need to book ahead to see if there is availability on the days you want to travel.
The bus can stop outside The Cable Bay Store which is down the hill from us. We don't have Ubers or taxis here, so getting from this bus-stop up the hill to our place with your luggage would take a bit of effort. (If we know when you're arriving, we might be able to organise a neighbour to collect you and your bags.)
GETTING AROUND
Once here, ideally, you need a car to get around, unless you plan to stay close to home. The main road, SH 10, is at the end of the Stratford Drive which is off our street. Being a rural coastal area means it's not ideal for cycling.
If you're walking, it's a bit of an incline up a well-lit street to the well-lit residential complex.
