County Waterford is situated in the south-east of Ireland, (the sunniest part!) and is an excellent base for exploring the country because of its good road and rail connections with Dublin and Cork. We live in a newly built house just outside of Dunmore East fishing village with beautiful views of the countryside, the sea and the Comeragh Mountains. Our house has four bedrooms (3 en suite) and four bathrooms, two sitting rooms, a large kitchen, a computer room and a play room with four single beds. We have a TV with ''Sky''(cable) and a DVD player, we also have a coffee machine, computer and internet in the house. We have a large garden perfect for playing a game of football in and live in a perfect location, with the nearest beach less than a ten minute walk away, and Dunmore with it's excellent restaurants and cafe's less than a 20 minute walk from the house. Waterford City is a 20 minute drive where it is possible to take the train to Dublin for the day, if you are interested in paying a visit to our historic capital, and it's only slightly under a two hour journey.

The house is set in the countryside with beautiful scenic views of the sea right through the kitchen and living room windows, but is not too rural with Dunmore East village close by. Dunmore East is a very popular local holiday destination and during the summer months has a great atmosphere with many tourists around our plentiful cafe's, restaurants, pubs and beaches. Dunmore also has a lovely park with a children's playground and two tennis courts in it, a golf course on top of the cliffs with amazing ocean views, a picturesque harbour with a sailing club and Adventure Centre. Our kids love the Adventure Centre where you can join the Summer Day Camps for a week and take part in water sports as well as rock climbing, archery, orienteering and many other fun games and activities! Waterford City is a 25 minute drive away, (but it's also possible to take the bus which comes every couple of hours during the summer) where you'll find many clothes shops, boutiques, the cinema and a beautiful book shop which is in fact a converted theatre. If you're interested in history why not walk down the historic quay, pay a visit to the museum or Reginald's Tower? It's easy to take a day trip to Dublin, with the journey less than 2 hours on the train. Also a mere 15 minutes from the house is the town of Tramore where there is a magnificent beach for walking and surfing, during the Summer there is also a fair ground full of amusements which is sure to keep the kids entertained. For those who like the outdoors, we like to spend a summers day at the Comeragh Mountains with a picnic, the kids always go climbing and hiking in the mountains with the scouts. If you like the theatre, there's always a good show, pantomime or ballet on in The Theatre Royal in Waterford or a play, puppet show or film in Garter Lane Arts Centre.
