What you will love about this home
The "Rollin Furbeck House" is a registered historic landmark, and is considered a major transitional work of America's most famous architect, Frank Lloyd Wright. Best of all, it is both comfortable and luxurious. There are 5 bedrooms in the home, and presently 2 of them are set up as offices. There is a large finished basement (with a billiards table and large screen TV) and it is a haven for teens/kids. The bedrooms: on the second floor is the elegant master bedroom suite with king size bed and whirlpool tub, a second bedroom with queen bed and attached exercise room (treadmill and elliptical machines) and bathroom. On the third floor, there are two bedrooms and a full bath, one bedroom with a queen sized bed and the other being used as a study. If you need a fourth bedroom, we can set up a queen size bed for you in the third floor study or in the basement.
We have a large back yard with gardens, decks, and a heated, in ground swimming pool. Most rooms of the house, including the pool and deck areas and master bedroom and bath, are wired for sound and ready for you to plug in or use bluetooth to connect to your device. Our home is ideally located in the estate district of Oak Park, a vibrant community of 52,000 residents, boutiques, and restaurants of every nationality. We are 10 minutes walking distance from the "El" station (train to Chicago) and to the central business district of Oak Park, and 20 minutes drive to downtown Chicago.
Our second home is 75 minutes away, in Beverly Shores, Indiana. The Town is situated inside the Indiana Dunes National Park. Our home is four short blocks from the Lake Michigan beach where there is a Town residents-only parking lot for your use. The house is an historic 4 bedroom 3 bath Spanish Colonial stucco nestled in wooded acres, with basketball/pickleball and shuffleboard courts, golf cart, and an outdoor fireplace. The home sleeps 8-10 with three king beds, one queen bed and a bunk bed in the basement family room. The home was totally renovated in 2023 with an open concept kitchen and great room and the addition of an attached 800 ft2 “Casita,” complete with a kitchen, master bathroom, year-round outdoor shower, and Kiva fireplace.
Either or both homes are available for exchanging (some past exchangers have used both homes during their time here).

What you will love about this neighborhood
Oak Park is a worldwide destination for tourism because of its famous architecture -- Frank Lloyd Wright's home and studio are in Oak Park and the village has more of his buildings than any place else in the world -- and close proximity to Chicago. See the wikipedia listing for a detailed description of the village: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Oak_Park,_Illinois
We live among friendly neighbors on a tree-lined street in the estate section of the village. Numerous recreation facilities are within Oak Park's borders, including free public tennis courts, running tracks, hiking and bicycle trails, indoor ice skating rink, gymnastics center, and more. There are several districts for shopping, dining, and culture. Among them: the downtown area (Lake Street) is a short walk or bicycle ride away. The Lake Theatre, a restored art deco movie house, offers a nice mix of popular and art films. In the summer months there is a robust schedule of street fairs and festivals, and plays and free concerts are held in our parks. The Harrison Street Art District has a number of galleries and restaurants. On Saturdays in the summer and fall months, a fabulous farmer's market (known for its homemade donuts and nonstop bluegrass music jam sessions) is a five minute walk from our house. And, of course, the list of things to do and see in Chicago is endless: world class museums, theatre, restaurants, concerts, professional sports, the beach (Lake Michigan is like an ocean), you name it. In the summer months there is a free outdoor music festival almost every weekend (Blues Fest, Taste of Chicago, Jazz Fest, Gospel Fest, etc.) some that attract millions of attendees.

Additional information
Because Oak Park borders Chicago, we are actually about one mile from the city limits, but typically 10-30 minutes driving to most of the attractions and places you'll want to visit within Chicago. Public transportation is also excellent, and our house is a short walk from the "El" train station.
