What you will love about this home
Sitting high on a hill, this property has stunning, unobstructed views of the Alsea Bay, the Alsea Bay Bridge, the town of Waldport and the Pacific Ocean. This unit is a beautiful, spacious (1000 square feet) one bedroom condo above the garage. The main part of the house is used by the owners.
The condo has its own deck and BBQ, a very large bedroom with two comfortable chairs for enjoying the view out toward the ocean, a cozy gas fireplace, and a complete kitchen with a bar to use for breakfast or for setting up your computer to catch up with email. Outside your windows you'll see seagulls and cormorants and maybe osprey, bald eagles or turkey vultures.
The condo has a California king bed and a narrow twin sized bed in the bedroom. Best for two adults and one child with a twin sized blowup mattress available, if needed, for a second child. The unit has its own one car garage.
The Oregon coast is an international destination spot, and this home is one of the loveliest on the coast, with construction finished in June 2019. Gary graduated from high school in Waldport many years ago, and is happy to have had the opportunity to build the home in the same community many years later.
We have named the house "Puma Point" because our security cameras have caught a cougar making its neighborhood rounds deep in the night several times.

What you will love about this neighborhood
The home is just north of the Alsea Bay, on a dead end private road. It is part of a small (six lots) subdivision, with each lot sitting on 2 acres of land. Very private. There is a trail leading down to the bay beach near the KOA entrance. The walk to the beach using this trail takes 10-15 minutes. Alternatively, beach access is just a 5 minute drive. All Oregon beaches are public, and beach access is required by law every two miles. That law is such a blessing to all Oregon residents and visitors! Visitors can also walk easily to and over the bridge. It's a 0.75 mile walk from the apartment to the town of Waldport.
The bay and the ocean offer a multitude of outdoor activities. You can...
--explore the tide pools at low tide at Seal Rock, one of the best tide pooling spots on the Oregon coast. This is a favorite activity for almost all visitors to the Oregon coast.
--go beach combing, any time on any Oregon beach!
--rent a small boat and go crabbing in the bay for delicious dungeness crab, or go crabbing from the shore.
--kayak on the bay.
--fish in the surf for ocean perch.
--in season, fish for salmon in the bay or up the Alsea River.
--go clamming for bay clams or, in season, for razor clams.
--watch for whales as they migrate in spring and fall.
--while on the beach, watch for seals, and many birds, including pelicans, bald eagles, herons, turkey vultures, cormorants, sandpipers, and, of course, seagulls. Several land in the trees near the house.
--in bad weather, enjoy winter storms from the warmth of the apartment. Many Oregonians travel to the coast when storms are predicted just for their ferocity and splendor.
The area also offers many other activities. You can...
--hike along the Pacific Coast Trail, and in other parts of the Siuslaw National Forest. There is a beautiful trail through old growth Douglas fir trees very nearby.
--ride fat tire bikes on the beach in Newport.
--golf in Waldport at the 9 hole Crestview Golf course. This golf course was designed by Gary's father in the late 1960s.
--visit the excellent Oregon Coast Aquarium in Newport.
--check out nearby wineries and breweries. Oregon has 774 wineries and more than 200 breweries.
--ride dune buggies in Florence.
--dine in one of the many restaurants in Waldport, Newport or Yachats.
--shop in the unique stores in these three towns.
Waldport, a 3 minute drive or a 15 minute walk from the apartment, is a small town (population 2,000) with all the essentials...a grocery store, a drug store, a hardware store, and multiple small restaurants. It is 15 miles south of Newport (population 10,000) and 15 miles north of Yachats (population 700). All three towns are popular tourist destinations.
