What you will love about this home
We are all set for for 2025. Going to Austria :-)
Please NOTE... due to the renovation that lasted for 15 months (and two summers) we canceled our subscription for Homeexchange and hence lost our +10 year loyalty badge :-(
But we are very experienced exchangers and we love it.
_______
We offer a splendid, spacious house with nice garden situated in the middle of Denmark close to the beach and lots of other interesting parts of Denmark. The house is big enough for you to bring family or friends.
You are very close to Aarhus (the 2nd largest city in DK) and you can reach Copenhagen within 2½ hours. But why go to Copenhagen, when an aknowledged american travelblogger in 2022 wrote an article with this headline: "Aarhus Is Europe’s Best City You’ve Never Heard Of". (Read the article here: https://www.thedailybeast.com/aarhus-is-europes-best-city-youve-never-heard-of/)
Our home is very nice for children and have all amenities: toys, computers, 75" + 65" flatscreens, + cinema with all streaming services. On the outside we have: Patio with gas grill and heaters, great swing, big trampoline etc.
We live close to the sea with great beaches and we have easy access to both cultural and historical sites as well as lovely nature.
We hope to hear from you.
Kids are aged 28, 26, 22 and 18. We will probably only travel with the one or two younger kids but sometimes (especially in the summer exchanges) the older ones might come along for a visit.
We have a guide for exchanges with info on attractions.

Finally, Our history with homeexchanges
We've done homeexchanges since 2001. And we love it!
For the first 6 years we only used Homelink, but in 2008 we made two exchanges wit Homeexchange so now we use both.
So far we did these exchanges:
2001: Padua, Italy. We lived in a small apartment in Padua close to public transport. We also drove around Veneto a lot. Accomadation was not splendid but the region was Amazing. Several trips to Venice.
2002: Auxerre, France. A nice house, great for the kids with lots of toys and things to do. The region wasn't that amazing though. But we went to Paris a few times. And the kids still talk about the local baker's Pain au Chocolat :-)
2003: Infant. No homeexchange
2004: South of Barcelona, Spain. We exchanged to a luxurious flat in an area with spanish second homes. Just next to the beach with great view over the sea and not flooded with tourists at alle. Except for the local ones. And us. One of the top three exchanges.
2005: Monte San Savino, Tuscany, Italy. We so wanted to got to Italy, so we accepted a home that was far to rural. There were absolutely no accomodities and the temperature was above 34. At night! Still a great exchange due to the amazing region. Just driving around through the loads of medevial villages. And Sienna. And even a small trip to Rome. Amiamo l'Italia!
2006: Soglio, Piemonte, Italy. We exchanged for a small castlle. Yes we did! It was huge. Had its own pool. The region not as intensly exciting as i.e. Tuscany but Torino was nice.
2007: Berlin, Germany. Great city, great attractions, friendly people, loaded with history. And cheap! Another top three exchange staying in a totaly refurbished flat in the middle of the old Eastberlin. Just nice. We parked the car on the night of arrival and we didn't touch it again before driving back to Denmark. It's so nice with public transportation.
2008: Monterey, California, USA. Great house, great part of the US, and most of all: Great neighbours. Our kids fell in love with the family next door and especially their kids. We miss you, Ellery and Robert1 Come visit soon :-)
2008: San Fransico, USA. Another three weeks in amazing USA. Another top three exchange. Haning out in the middle of the Haights, millionaire style with four story house, Mustang convertible for cruising and a huge Mercedes for family rides. Cool house with style and great view over SF.
2009: Munich. An atempt to make a cheap summer vacation as Iben was between jobs. Munich is not at good town for that though. But we enjoyed.
2010: Rome. A superb penthouse with a Steinway grand piano and view to Sct. Peters Church. A 7 seater car and lots of great trips to the surrounding attractions. And a very hot summer it was.
2011: Madrid. Nice house in the suburbs of Madrid with a community pool. We had to drive two cars as they didn't have a sevenseater but it worked OK. Nice runs in a great nature park in the vicinity.
2012: Prague. Our smallest homeexchange but also one of the best as there is SO much to see in Prague AND the area. And everything is affordable too.
2013: Provence, France. A great refurbished home in the middle of nowhere with a super Saltwaterpool. SO relaxing and we drove down there oursleves and brought some bikes too. And then there was the Pont du Gard :-)
2014: Madrid once again. Close to the same area as in 2011 but this time with an even nicer pool and a BIG Mercedes that we also exchanged ;-)
Saw some of the same attractions but had more benefit from downtown Madrid now with bigger kids than in 2011.
2015: California USA once again and this time our best exchange ever! Such a perfect house in Carlsbad, San Diego. So comfortable and a great pool. And What neighbours. Really enjoyed to get to know people. And So much to see in San Diego. In the end we had a ten day trip going to LA to fly back home. We will definetly be back in the US.
2016: The most exotic destination so far, going to Marocco. Great exchange at the seaside, south of Rabat and some days in Marrakech, Fes and Meknes. Really, really exciting. But not that relaxing ;-)
2017: Madrid, once again. Great exchange with a pool a tenniscourt and a great flat.
2018: Sevilla. Nice house, nice pool, fantastic city and hot, hot! :-)
2019: Four exchanges!
February: Kiel, April: Kiel, October SE England and then the main event: Texas, USA in july
Another fantastic exchange in the US. Great house, with pool, spa, bar, cinema AND a nice, big Mercedes :-)
Great things to see and do but most of all spending time with the kids at the poolside and just enjoying vacation.
2020: Covid made us stay in Denmark, so we did a visit to Bornholm.
2021: We visited Grenoble in France.
2022: We did a six week exchange to California once again :-)
2023 and 2024 we did Airbnb as hour house was closed for renovation.
More than this we had numerous exchanges for easter and the fall with trips to Copenhagen, Holland and Germany.
Please NOTE... due to the renovation that lasted for 15 months (and two summers) we canceled our subscription for Homeexchange and hence lost our +10 year loyalty badge :-(

What you will love about this neighborhood
The house is a charming house built in 1845. It's a parsonage (vicar´s residence).
It includes three large livingrooms, five bedrooms, a newly made large room for the kids, a nice kitchen with dishwasher and microwave-oven, an office, a library and two modern bathrooms, one of them with washingmashine and tumbledryer.
The garden is big, with a nice terrasse, a barbeque-grill and a terrasse heater. There is a fence around the whole garden to secure small children from running out. We have a big swing and a trampoline. There is an open garage for two cars.
The house is situated in the village Hjortshøj, right where the village ends and the countryside begins. The town offers two supermarkets, a bakery, a gasstation, various playgrounds, a small forrest and of course our lovely church.
4 miles from Hjortshøj is the small town, Lystrup, which has numerous other shops and a public swimmingpool.
If you want to take a swim in the ocean, you´ll find one of the finest beaches in Denmark only 4 miles away, not crowded at all.
The second biggest town in Denmark, Århus with its 300.000 inhabitants, is only fifteen minutes drive away. There a good public transport leaving from our doorstep. In Århus, you´ll find many places of great interest: Museums, buildings and shops, of which we´ll provide you with further information.
Note that Aarhus is placed in the middle of Denmark. You can go to Copenhagen in a couple of hours and Odense. Legoland and lots of other attractions are easy reached.
