What you will love about this home
Home is not a place - it´s a feeling, the saying goes Well, I believe that most people will feel at home in our house, which is spacious with a lovely garden and very comfortable furniture :-). Within 30 minutes we can reach both sea, woods, countryside and the 4th largest city in Denmark.
The kitchen is the heart of our home. It is a very spacious, light-filled room and our table seats up to 10 people. It is a nice place to gather after a busy day of sightseeing and fun, to enjoy a nice meal and relaxation.
Double french doors opens up to our inviting family room with comfortable couches, tv and what ever else a family needs. Robins room with a very comfortable king size bed, the daycare playroom, and a bathroom is also downstairs.
Upstairs you´ll find our living room, which is a nice place for the grown ups to enjoy some quiet time. Here you´ll find sofas, books in both Danish, English, and German, travel books and also a desk if you need to get some work done - on the other hand, you are on vacation, so who needs that :-) ?
If you are 8 people two matrasses will be ready for you in here.
You´ll find the master bedroom with en suite and also the guest bedroom with a comfortable queen size bed.
Our house is enveloped by a lovely garden with 3 decks and a patio, so you can always find a place in sun or shadow. A small section of the garden is devoted to the little ones with a small playhouse, sandbox and scooters. We have a low fence around the house in order to keep our dog in, but also to keep the occasional neighbourly dog out. The garden has plenty of birdlife and often a hedgehog or two in the garden at night-time. For a nice summer evening at home, a barbeque is available for your use.
On occasion we will offer our cabin up for exchange. In the spring, summer and fall it is available for rent through an agency, and we do not have access to it. However, if we have allready booked it for ourselves, we may do a simultanious exchange with you, where we exchange the cabin for your home. The cabin is a three bedroom, two bathroom, 110 squaremeter log cabin in a wooded setting in Tversted in Northern Jutland. The last few photoes in our house listing is from the cabin.

What you will love about this neighborhood
We live in Klarup, a small village located just outside Aalborg, the 4th largest city in Denmark. Klarup is a friendly place, with many playgrounds for the kids, walking paths for a nice stroll and grocery shopping just a 2 minutes walk from our house. There is also a bakery, a pizza place and a hotdog/burger place, two churches, old farms and old houses.
Klarup is well connected to the rest of the country. A 5 minute drive from here you reach the E45, which will give you fast access to both north and south.
Aalborg is a historic town, it dates back more than a thousand years, and offer plenty of entertainment. You´ll find nice restaurants, a very active nightlife if that´s your thing, concerts, museums, shopping and old houses.
If you are more into the ourdoors lifestyle, there are beaches 10 minutes from here at the Fjord. If you´d rather go to the ocean and the famous windswept beaches, you can reach both east and west within a half hour drive. There are coastal towns dotted along the beaches and many interesting places to visit. The most northern point of the European continent is a little more than an hours drive from here, and a popular place to watch the sunset.
Go to Lille Vildmose for a protected park-area, Rold Skov for the biggest forest in Denmark, and Rebild Bakker (Rebild HIlls), where the Danish-American Society celebrates the 4th of July every year.
Amusement parks are also fairly close by. Faarup sommerland is very popular and a 45 minutes drive away. Legoland, the original Legopark close to the original legofactories, is a 2 hour drive away. Djurs sommerland is a little more than an hour. You should be well covered with a fair selection :-).
Århus, the 2nd largest city in Denmark is roughly an hours drive from here. Odense, the city where H.C. Andersen was born, is about 2,5 hours drive away. Copenhagen is about 4 hours drive away and could be excellent for a one or two days trip. All easily accesible via the E45.
Klarup is also well placed for daytrips to Gothenburg in Sweden. The ferry sails from Frederikshavn, which is about 40 minutes from here. You can leave the car in Denmark, ride the ferry to Sweden - about 4 hours - and walk/ride trams in Gothenburg, and then return with the ferry.
However, if you are like us, you don´t want to drive too far when already far from home. And you don´t need to. There is plenty of entertainment, historical sites and lovely nature within a 45 minutes radius. Just browse through the books and brochures we leave for you and select from all the possibilities.
If we exchange our cabin, you will be staying in Tversted. It is 25 minutes from Skagen, 800 meters from the beach and surrounded by beutiful nature. It is an area with a lot of summerhomes, and there will be plenty of touristy things to do in the area as well as nice hikes.
