What you will love about this home
Nestled in a light-filled aspen grove at the edge of a quiet meadow on 25 acres of rolling private land in the foothills of the Teton Range is where you will find our homestead, our main home, and nearby guest cottage (also occasionally available for exchange). 40 minutes from Grand Targhee Ski Resort, ~90 minutes to Yellowstone and Grand Teton parks. We are also within a day's drive of the famous Utah national park corridor of Zion National Park and Bryce Canyon, and a day from Glacier National Park in Montana and Badlands National Park in South Dakota.
The main home is a handcrafted timber frame that perfectly blends the warmth and texture of natural materials like wood, brick, and lime plaster with clean Nordic-inspired design and vintage touches throughout. Down the hill from the main home is Mökki House – our cozy handcrafted timber frame guest house in the style of a traditional Finnish cabin. This is often rented out but we would also consider a home exchange of the cottage. See here: https://www.homeexchange.com/homes/view/1940646
Make this the base camp for your Teton Valley or Yellowstone/Grand Teton National Park adventures or retreat into quiet mountain solitude. Do some morning yoga on the deck, take a soak in our hot tub in the woods, stargaze at a night sky with zero light pollution, watch grazing deer with your morning tea, read a book to the song of a cheerful chickadee, or fish world-class fly fishing rivers like the Henry's Fork within an hour of your door step.
The nearby (20-minutes) town of Driggs has several excellent restaurants, a huge and well-stocked grocery store, and all the amenities one would need to enjoy the full range of outdoor activities that you can do here. This is the American West at its very best.
The home has a full array of conveniences: A 3-car garage, a full and spacious kitchen, washer, dryer, high speed Starlink Internet, a claw-footed tub with a view, and luxurious Moroccan plaster showers. There is also a cozy cinema room with 7.1 surround sound, and a gym/yoga room equipped with free weights and a power rack. It is well-equipped for children with a beautiful loft/playroom and a ceiling-mounted swing as well as a rope swing outside. The loft/playroom could be set up as an additional bedroom if desired.
If you like snow and a winter wonderland experience, this home is a perfect place to experience a true winter wonderland. Cross country skiing and snowshoeing opportunities abound across our property or in the nearby national forest. Grand Targhee ski resort has some of the best snow conditions and skiing in the country and is not yet as "discovered" as many other resorts in the country (although the secret is starting to get out). The home is primarily heated by a beautiful wood stove, with supplementary radiators and cove heaters in the smaller rooms. Note, snowfall can be substantial and this is not suitable for people uncomfortable with driving in snowy conditions. Snow removal of the driveway will need to be discussed with the home exchange guest or a snow removal service can be arranged.
In summer season, we have a large garden that might need checking on periodically, primarily to pick produce, which you can eat during your stay. It is on an automated watering system.
This is a truly unique home and property.
