What you will love about this home
Welcome to The Treehouse Retreat, our serene two-story home nestled in the lush landscape of Kailua-Kona, Hawaii. Blending rustic charm with modern comforts, our home offers a unique tropical experience where you can relax, unwind, and embrace island life.
About the House:
Our home, originally built in 1984 and recently renovated, has a cozy treehouse feel with redwood walls and cedar ceilings. The upstairs features an open-concept living room and kitchen, designed with a rustic-modern aesthetic. The kitchen is a highlight, with a farmhouse copper sink, copper range hood, and high-quality appliances, offering a warm, inviting atmosphere. We’ve also installed new acacia wood laminate floors in the living and dining areas.
Downstairs, you’ll find a spacious guest suite with a king-size bed, as well as a kids’ room with a full-size bed. The full bathroom downstairs has a shower, and there’s an outdoor shower surrounded by tropical greenery—a private oasis perfect for a refreshing experience after a day in the sun.
The Bedrooms:
• Guest Suite (Downstairs): King-size bed for restful nights.
• Kids’ Room (Downstairs): Full-size bed, perfect for children or adults.
• Bunk Room (Upstairs): Bunk bed (full-size on bottom, twin on top) that comfortably sleeps two. This room also has a remote-controlled air conditioning unit for a cooler, more comfortable night’s sleep.
Bathrooms & Laundry:
• Downstairs: Full bathroom with a shower, plus a lovely outdoor shower for an authentic tropical experience.
• Upstairs: Bathroom with a shower next to the kids’ room.
The laundry area with a washer and dryer is also located upstairs.
Outdoor Spaces:
Our wraparound covered lanai (porch) is truly the heart of the house. Whether rain or shine, it provides the perfect space to relax, dine, or simply enjoy the breathtaking ocean views and stunning sunsets. It’s a peaceful, private spot to unwind, and you’ll find yourself returning to it time and again throughout your stay. We have a gas grill ideal for grilling your favorite meals with an ocean view. The yard surrounding the home is perfect for children to play and explore, featuring seasonal fruit including mangoes, lemons, limes, oranges, avocados, pineapples, and apple bananas.
Unique Features & Amenities:
• Music Area (Downstairs): When you enter the home, you’re greeted by a music area in the foyer with a stand-up piano, guitar, and ukulele, offering a warm, welcoming vibe.
• Fitness Area (Outside): In the carport outside, you’ll find a workout area complete with a bench press, weights, and a personal zip-up sauna seat. This is the perfect spot to relax after a day of adventure.
• Outdoor Adventure Gear: We offer a range of gear for your outdoor adventures, including stand-up paddleboards, surfboards, boogie boards, and snorkel gear. We also have backpack coolers, umbrella, and chairs- perfect for a relaxing day at the beach.
Koi Pond & Entry:
As you approach our home, you have two entry options. From the side street, you can walk along a path of stepping stones across our yard, leading you to a bridge that spans our koi pond. Alternatively, you can enter via the driveway, which brings you closest to the front door and guest room. The soothing sound of the koi pond's flowing water can be heard in the guest room when the sliding doors are open, with the screens allowing for fresh air and a peaceful atmosphere.
Tropical Living:
Living in the tropics means sharing our space with a few geckos. While we do our best to keep them outside, they are a normal part of island life. We hope you enjoy the natural charm of the environment! The house is equipped with ceiling & floor fans in every room, and we keep the windows open with screens to let the natural breezes flow. The downstairs stays cooler, while the upstairs kids’ room has an AC unit for added comfort on warmer nights.
In addition to the geckos, you will hear the sound of koki frogs outside at night. Their chirping is part of the tropical ambiance, but if it’s not to your liking, we have sound machines available in each room to help mask the noise and ensure a peaceful night’s sleep.
Whether you’re here to explore Hawaii’s natural wonders or simply relax in the tropical serenity of The Treehouse Retreat, our home offers a welcoming and unique space for your Hawaiian getaway.

What you will love about this neighborhood
Our home is nestled in a peaceful, safe neighborhood with family nearby, ready to assist with any needs or concerns during your stay. We enjoy the comfort of leaving our windows open for fresh air both day and night.
Perched at an elevation of 900 feet on the slopes of Hualālai Volcano, our home offers a serene setting with glimpses of the town of Kona and the ocean below. Our neighborhood is surrounded by hills. For those who enjoy walking, there's a level street above us known as "Guava Lane," a local favorite for exercise.
We're just 2.5 miles from Kailua Pier (the start and finish line for the world-renowned Ironman Championship) and Ali'i Drive, which runs through downtown Kona. While we're close to town, our elevated position provides a peaceful retreat, so we highly recommend renting a car to fully explore the beauty and adventure the island has to offer.
