SUMMER
Yellowstone National Park
The World's First National Park On March 1, 1872, Yellowstone became the first national park for all to enjoy the unique hydrothermal and geologic features. Within Yellowstone's 2.2 million acres, visitors have unparalleled opportunities to observe wildlife in an intact ecosystem, explore geothermal areas that contain about half the world’s active geysers, and view geologic wonders like the Grand Canyon of the Yellowstone River. Access to Yellowstone National Park varies from year to year, depending on seasonal conditions. Typically, the West Entrance, the entrance closest to Teton Valley, is open from early-May to late-October. In the winter, the only way you can access Yellowstone is by booking a professional snowmobile or snowcoach tour. As conditions are subject to change, we strongly recommend checking the National Parks Service website for up-to-date information before planning your visit to Yellowstone.
Float the Teton River
One favorite local activity is floating the Teton River.
The Teton River runs south to north through the valley, starting near the town of Driggs. This stretch of the Teton River is a slow, placid body of water that is ideal for floating, stand-up paddle boarding (SUP), and kayaking. Gaze up at Grand Teton while casually paddling this gorgeous stretch of water, which meanders its way through Teton Valley—you might even spot a moose!

Jenny Lake and Visitor Center
Jenny Lake is one of the most visited areas in Grand Teton National Park. Tucked away at the base of the Teton Range, the lake is a centerpiece of the park. From the east shore, visitors have views of Teewinot Mountain, Mount St. John, and into Cascade Canyon. From the west shore, visitors can look back across the lake towards the valley of Jackson Hole. Several popular trails leave from Jenny Lake. Hikers can loop the lake, visit Hidden Falls and Inspiration Point, or travel into the backcountry via Cascade Canyon. Longer trails such as Lake Solitude or Hurricane Pass can be accessed from Jenny Lake. Visitors have many options in how to explore Jenny Lake: hike a trail, take a boat ride, hang out by the lakeshore, or stop by the visitor center. Park at Jenny Lake to access all aspects of the area. Parking is limited. In summer, the parking lot fills and you may be required to park along the road. If doing so, pull fully off the shoulder.
Mesa Falls
At Upper Mesa Falls, a thunderous curtain of water – as tall as a 10-story building – pours over remnants of an ancient volcanic super-eruption. A mile south, Lower Mesa Falls repeats the performance, the river continually chiseling away at the solidified ash and lava. The beautiful Upper and Lower Mesa Falls are the last prominent waterfalls on the Snake River unaffected by manmade influences. A scenic walking path leads to excellent viewpoints.
Horseback Riding
Giddy up, partner! It’s time for a scenic horseback ride through Teton Valley. At Linn Canyon Ranch on the outskirts of Driggs, enjoy guided trail rides or a sunset dinner ride through aspen groves and fields of wildflowers. When the snow falls, bundle up for a magical sleigh ride through wintry Idaho landscapes. During your ride, keep an eye out for local wildlife. Back at the lodge, warm yourself by the fire in anticipation of a splendid dinner.
