What you will love about this home
Our home in the leafy suburbs of Aranda is open, light-filled and comfortable all year round. Downstairs we have a living area, dining area with adjacent kitchen, laundry and toilet. From the kitchen and dining area, we overlook our native garden where we love to watch the many beautiful birds coming to enjoy a drink or bath. Upstairs, the master bedroom has an ensuite and a roller shutter which blocks light and reduces outside noise at night. Our son's room has a king single bed and the third bedroom is a playroom/music room with a sofa bed and games table. There is also a separate bathroom (with both bath and shower) and toilet. The whole house has ducted heating/cooling so you will be comfortable whenever you visit. If it's wet (which it rarely is) we have a huge range of books and toys, including a full-size table tennis table that can be set up in the garage. Unless we are away overseas, we will have our car with us, so there will also be room for your car in our remote-controlled garage.
What you will love about this neighborhood
Our place is a 15-minute walk from several nature reserves where you can find beautiful native trees, plants, birds, lizards, kangaroos and other wildlife (including possums, sugar gliders and tawny frogmouths at night!). It is less than a 5-minute walk to a popular restaurant and cafe, and just a 10-minute walk to the Jamison shopping centre where you will find pretty much everything you need from shops to health services. Longer walks (around 1 hour) through the bushland will take you to the summit of Black Mountain, the Australian National Botanic Gardens and the National Arboretum. There is a bus stop just a 2-minute walk from our house and the bus takes 11 minutes to get to the city centre. Bus or drive around Australia's capital to visit a wide range of national attractions including Questacon, the Australian War Memorial, Parliament House, the National Gallery and the Royal Australian Mint.
