What you will love about this home
Our century-old home is full of character and colour, since our renovation in 2020. We kept some of the original features, but gave the old building a new lease of life. The house has a small front garden with patio, and a rear garden with a spacious patio and separate gym. Inside the house we have 3 bedrooms, 2 bathrooms, a downstairs toilet, office, kitchen/dining room, utility room and spacious living area. Everyone that visits the house loves the kitchen and living area, especially our gorgeous bookcase. We both love color and that is evident throughout the house.
Our house is a short walk from Buncrana main street, meaning restaurants, bars and shops are a couple of minutes walk from our front door. The closest beach is a 5 minute walk. The front of the house is west-facing and we enjoy glorious sunsets over Lough Swilly. Our back garden and patio are a real suntrap.
Our home is the perfect base for exploring the Inishowen Peninsula, with it's myriad beaches and viewing points.

What you will love about this neighborhood
Buncrana is a welcoming, friendly town on the shores of Lough Swilly, Ireland's largest glacial fjord. It is the gateway town to the Inishowen Peninsula and the starting point for the final stretch of the Wild Atlantic Way. Buncrana is known as "Parthas Éireann", which means Ireland's Paradise in Gaeilge/Gaelic. The Inishowen Peninsula is known for it's breathtaking scenery - Mamore Gap, Malin Head, Kinnego bay, Sliabh Sneacht - to name a few highlights, as well as endless beaches.
The town of Buncrana has plenty of shops, restaurants, bars and cafés, and a beautiful, independent cinema (at the end of our road!). Swan Park is a beatiful local park, perfect for a stroll. If you want to stretch the legs a bit more, the shore walk past historic O'Doherty's Keep out to Ned's Point and Fr. Hegarty's Rock offer plenty of fresh air, friendly smiles and gorgeous views. Nearby, there are plenty of opportunities for hiking, cycling, water sports, golfing, wildlife observation. Slightly further afield is the historic city of Derry, the Giant's Causeway, Glenveagh National Park, Grianan of Aileach (a neolithic ring fort) and Fanad Lighthouse. During the summer months, the local ferry can whisk you away to Rathmullan on the Fanad Peninsula.
Restaurants: Ubiquitious (modern bistro with a good buzz), Sherpa (Indian and Nepalese cuisine - a fave!), Oscar's (a good, reliable feed), Railway Tavern (steak a speciality), The Red Door (for a special occasion).
Bars: O'Flaherty's (famous for Wednesday night traditional music and their Thursday night quiz), The Cottage (cozy pints, and the closest bar to our house ;-)), Rodden's (laid-back vibes, with great music), The Drift Inn (a former train station with a big, open fire).
Cafés: Tank and Skinny's (the view has to be experienced), Fisherman's Wharf, Swan Perk, The Coffee Cup, Black Roast Café, Main Street Kitchen, Las Gorditas, Sandwich Co., The Lunchbox.
