What you will love about this home
My home sits on a quiet wooded cul-de-sac with a beautiful woodland garden, outdoor dining pavilion with BBQ, fire pit, and a delightful treehouse I built myself in 2004. It has a SleepNumber queen bed and sitting room that is usable up until mid-November. The main home is a one-story cedar-sided ranch, and includes a screened deck off the MBR suite. Decor inside and out is Asian inspired, including a lot of hand-crafted pieces of furniture. Hand made outdoor low voltage lanterns in the shoji style render the grounds magical at night. Visitors inevitably comment on how peaceful and calm the place is.
A unique residence, it also includes a home theatre in the living room with surround sound and 6'x9' projection image. The kitchen is well equipped and a fun place to cook, as the dining room table extends into it, and your sous-chef can sit and chat while chopping. This table is twelve feet long and seats ten if you squeeze. We made it from a slab of African sapele to match several teak benches, table, and chairs crafted from roots, which furnish the sunroom and part of the LR/home theatre.
The MBR features a SleepNumber bed that we can adjust to your firmness level, and blackout shades. The en-suite designer bathroom includes pebbled shower floor, a rain shower head, and a bench with wand. The guest BR features an office nook where you can set up with laptop and even plug it in to a big glass monitor if you'd like. A second guest room is a great place for yoga or meditation, and includes a comfortable Murphy bed if needed. In summer, along with the very comfortable treehouse bedroom, there is a glamping deck bedroom with SleepNumber bed and greenhouse/sitting room.

What you will love about this neighborhood
The neighborhood is a 1980's development with just eight houses, each on 1/2 acre lots. It's a short drive to picturesque Lewes, DE, the First Town in the First State, with lots of gingerbread and history, including the Zwaanendael Museum and the Lewes Historical Society. The Cannonball House still sports a cannonball from the war of 1812 in its foundation. America in Bloom has recognized Lewes as the most beautiful town in America on four occasions, and you can visit a number of houses from the colonial period. Our award-winning winery Nassau Vineyards offers daily tastings. Over the canal you reach Cape Henlopen State Park, with great beaches and trails, as well as biking trails, including the one that the Bidens use when in town. If you fancy a ferry ride, you can reach Cape May, NJ, in just an hour. Take bikes to explore. (I have two bikes available for use, as well as 2 beach chairs.) Very LGBTQ friendly.
Nearby is Rehoboth Beach, home to the Bidens' summer residence and a celebrated boardwalk. Further down the coast are two state park beaches, Bethany Beach, and Fenwick Island. Drive further south and you come to Ocean City, MD. Further still and you can reach Chincoteague, worth a guided visit on a boat to view the fabled wild ponies up close and personal.
We have restaurants to suit all budgets and palates. October is a great month to visit, with not one but two jazz festivals that feature national and international talent and a host of other attractions in the towns of Rehoboth and Lewes. The entertaining Sea Witch festival comes the weekend of Halloween, with a delightful parade and attractions for all. Nearby Milton Theater brings in a variety of acts.

Additional information
At two hours' drive to either Washington, DC or Philadelphia and 3 1/2 hours to NYC, my house is a great home base for urban forays. Numerous historical sites in the surrounding area--from WWII bunkers to Harriett Tubman's undergraund railway on the western side of the peninsula--also merit day trips. Of course, there are many ocean attractions, including boat rentals, fishing, and sunset cruises. You need at least two weeks to appreciate this sylvan hideaway, and October is the perfect month to do so!
