Description

Shannon has described his/her home in English.

What you will love about this home

My home exudes Old World Charm combined with modern comfort - the best of both worlds - in a peaceful but central setting. This is the downstairs flat of an up-down duplex built in 1929, surrounded by similar homes and parks.

The recently remodeled kitchen has granite countertops and all new appliances. A spacious living and dining room have natural oak woodwork, built in oak and stained glass cabinets, and nice south and east-facing exposures. There's a large-screen smart TV, two easy chairs, and comfortable couch in the living room. The original hardwood floors grace the living, dining, and bedrooms. The second bedroom is set up as an office/music room with an additional twin-size sleeper. Top-down-bottom-up shades provide privacy and light control.

The entire home is well insulated with new windows and exterior doors, central AC, and a high efficiency gas furnace. Washer and dryer (shared) are available for use in the basement. There is a sunny front porch, a back deck, and small backyard with off street parking in the driveway or garage,

What you will love about this neighborhood

Quiet, leafy neighborhood within walking distance of the baseball stadium. Three parks - one wooded and two with fields and a playground - are a three to ten minute walk away, including a path along the Menomonee River and the Oak Leaf Bicycle Trail. A small commercial area with a high-end coffee shop, bakeries, an Italian restaurant, and other specialty shops is in easy walking distance.

Access is easy to all the city has to offer. An electric express bus, one block away, goes east to downtown or west to Froedtert Hospital and the Medical College, and runs every 10 minutes. It's a five minute drive to Tosa Village shopping and restaurants, a 10 minute drive to the downtown museum and theater district, 15 minutes to the lakefront parks and Henry Maier Festival Park, the site of Summerfest, Milwaukee Irish Fest, and many other festivals and events.

Owner's son lives in the upstairs flat and is available to address any problems.

Additional information

Three cats and a goldendoodle live in the house. The cats are short-haired and mostly upstairs, but still it may not be a good place for someone who is highly allergic to cats. The goldendoodle does not shed and is, at least theoretically, hypo-allergenic. (I don't have allergies, so I don't really know for sure.)
