What you will love about this home
Our summer home is a charming renovated farmhouse with a beautiful garden on a hillside overlooking the picturesque village of Goujounac.
There are 4 bedrooms, 3 bathrooms and a very large living space.
There is a large garden with secluded spots to relax and nice views over the area.
It is perfect for the late spring and summer with terraces (in or out of the sun) and a 12-metre heated swimming pool.
Please note that in 2025 the house is not available in August. The only remaining availability is from 27 June to 6 July.

What you will love about this neighborhood
The house is located at Lac Dabou, a short walk (500 metres) from the beautiful village of Goujounac in the Lot department in the Occitanie* region of France. This is also the Cahors wine region and we are located next (7km) to the Dordogne region, also known for great food and wine (Bergerac, Monbazillac, Pécharmant). The area has some nice forests and farmland to walk or cycle through. There are many beautiful villages (with markets) and castles to explore nearby, and some great restaurants to enjoy, from the regional fare to Michelin-starred.
The nearest major airport is Toulouse (1h45 drive) and there is a small airport in Bergerac (1h15) with flights from the UK and from Brussels "South" (Charleroi). Car hire is possible from both airports.
Nearby:
- Goujounac (500 metres): beautiful village of 250 inhabitants with a restaurant (Hostellerie de Goujounac) and a non-profit social café - Le Tympan, which is open on Thursday evenings (with music) and Saturday mornings (with croissants).
- Frayssinet-Le-Gélat (2.6km - 3 minutes drive): a small village with a good bakery, a small food shop (Au Panier Villageois) and a restaurant (Le Plan d’Ô) by the lake next to the village (during summer).
- Cazals (9km - 10 minutes) for the market on Sundays, a very good bakery (Lalande), several cafés and a restaurant, l’Auberge de la Place. Cazals also features a lake for swimming and an interesting tractor museum.
- Prayssac (11km - 15 minutes): the nearest town with supermarkets and a post-office; nice on Fridays (market day), but best to get there early before it gets busy and then have a coffee on a terrace. Several good value restaurants: Terre Gourmande and Les Catounes.
- Puy l’Évèque (13km - 16 minutes): nice town to visit, with bridge over the Lot, canoe rental possible, market on Tuesdays.
- Gourdon (29km - 30 minutes): nice town to visit, also has supermarkets.
- There are also some nice walks in nearby hills where there are dolmens and other early signs of civilisation.
- Restaurants: many options, from local traditional to Michelin star restaurants - see list below.
- Wine tasting: plenty of opportunities for this...
Places to visit in the Lot and Dordogne:
- Monpazier (33km - 30 minutes) - beautiful fortified town founded by Edward I of England, ideal to visit on Thursdays (market day), but best to get there early (for parking). Many artisanal shops. Many options for lunch, but you should book the day before or when you arrive in the morning to see the market.
- Chateau de Bonaguil (24km - 25 minutes), the archetypal medieval castle with parts dating back to the 13th century. There are 2 restaurants.
- Chateau de Biron (40km - 35 minutes) - quite impressive, built primarily in the 12th century.
- Cahors (30km - 35 minutes) - the main town of the Lot department*. Also good for restaurants and shopping; see the Pont Valentré (bridge). You can also do a cruise on the Lot river, with a lunch option (book ahead).
On the way to or from Cahors, stop at the Chateau de Mercues, which is a hotel with a Michelin star restaurant. You should at least treat yourself to a drink on the terrace with a spectacular view over the Lot valley.
- Saint Cinq Lapopie (57km - 1h05), via Cahors, considered one of the most beautiful villages in France. Very popular, so important to get there early (for parking) and book a restaurant for lunch beforehand. There is also an amazing cave to visit.
- Bergerac (81km - 1h10) in the Dordogne region, historic town, hometown of the legendary Cyrano.
- Sarlat (43km - 50 minutes) in the Dordogne region.
- Domme, in the Dordogne region. Near Domme you can also go for some canoeing on the beautiful Dordogne river.
- Rocamadour (58km - 1h10) - another amazing village on a cliff top.
So, there is plenty to do...
