What you will love about this home
My apartment is located on the golf course and has amazing views of the Royal Johannesburg & Kensington Golf Course. You will wake up to birdsong & candy-floss skies.
The apartment is very spacious and tastefully decorated. With curated pieces of art & memories from all over the world and periods of my life.
The room is north-facing with block-out curtains, spacious, private with a queen-size bed and next to a private non-sharing bathroom.
The estate has secured access to the golf course - allowing you to walk up to the club house with generator power back-up and excellent access security.
You wil have access to the whole apartment, and there are two lounges to chill - one formal and one TV or PJ lounge with Netflix and the local cable options in plus a lovely comfortable balcony overlooking the golf course.
There is more than enough space for people to do their own thing and relax in between exploring the wonderful city of Johannesburg or just spend a day “at home” chatting & relaxing.
Due to the stairs, the apartment might not be suitable for elderly people or those physically challenged. The balconies could be a concern for parents with small kids.
Parking for 2 cars (outside, shadecloth).
O - and important to note. I have two dogs that live in the house and need regular walking on the leash (4 times a day) and poo-picking-up rules apply.
Also - the house will be cleaned before arrival and after departure and on request during your stay. The fee for this will be $25/€25/£20/R400 each clean. This means you don’t have to worry about changing & washing linen and towels or big cleaning work.

What you will love about this neighborhood
There are so many things to explore in Johannesburg - it is an international city with wonderful African influences. It is also one of the biggest Urban Forests in the world. You will need a few days to explore and appreciate the diversity.
Using the Red Bus is a great way to see Johannesburg in a safe way and you can hop on and off to see some interesting landmarks. You can choose to cycle through Soweto or visit Sanctuary Mandela for example.
There are some really nice food & goodie markets to visit such as the Linden Market, Victoria Yards, the Playground etc.
The apartment is close to our national airport OR Tambo International (25 min), major highways and the business centres of Sandton & Rosebank. Visiting Pretoria will take you about 70 minutes.
The direct neighbourhood (East Rand) is great. Lots of little coffee shops - Red Door, The Landing for example, wacky design & clothes and some great restaurants for all budgets. Don’t forget to visit the Backery in Edenvale to see a real-size Dutch windmill.
It is also close to about 9 golf courses Royal Johannesburg & Kensington, Glendower, Huddle Park, Killarney & Houghton Golf Course to name a few, a few shopping centres such as Eastgate, Bedford Gardens & Greenstone Shopping Centre & interesting land marks/city experiences. There are some prime restaurants close by. I believe the food in South Africa is first-class.
Your will enjoy the “ubuntu” (the spirit of the people & friendliness) of South Africa, and versatility of Johannesburg but obviously keep in mind that there is crime and certain areas of the city are better avoided. And stay vigilant with your wallet & cell phone specifically.

Although Uber works well in Johannesburg, a (rental) car would be required to visit further out of the city.
There are some interesting day trips such a Cradle of Humankind, the Magaliesberg, Nirox Sculpture Park, Sun City within 2-3 hours of the city that are worth exploring.
Please note: there will be a cleaning & linen fee of R300 (€15) per every 5 days.
