Description

What you will love about this home

Croeso cynnes! We live in the historic town of Caernarfon in a beautiful 19th century town house overlooking the Ynys Môn (Isle of Anglesey) and the Menai Straits.

We are a family of four - two adults and two young children. We're first language Cymraeg (Welsh) speakers and Caernarfon is a strong hold of the native language.

All our rooms are large and spacious - We have two King sized rooms and one children’s room which currently has a day bed (which can be converted to a small double bed). There are sea views from the front bedrooms and the sunset is beautiful. There are two bathrooms, two living rooms, a dining room and kitchen. We also have an outside decking area with plenty of seating and a bbq.

Main has just been finished April 2023 and has everything you need, there's a Barista Pro coffee machine for coffee lovers. We have a basement with a kitchen, so if you have older children, they can have a separate space for the duration of your stay.

Please note that there are some steps up to the house, just in case you have access problems.

Paddleboard available for anyone who swaps - take advantage of all the beautiful lakes & beaches around here. Also have 1 cruiser bike and 2 children's bikes suitable for 3 and 6 yr olds.

What you will love about this neighborhood

Within 2 minutes walk is the bus stop and a Supermarket. The centre of town is approximately 10 mins walk from the house. Directly in front of the house is a cycle track and we are in the perfect location to explore Eryri (Snowdonia) and Ynys Môn (Anglesey).

The house is ideally situated for all local attractions including Caernarfon Castle, Galeri (local arts centre and cinema), Plas Menai (National Water Sports Centre), Portmeirion Village, National Slate Museum, Electric Mountain Power Station and endless coastal or mountain walks. Dublin is only a short distance away by ferry.

The village of Llanfairpwllgwyngyllgogerychwyrndrobwllllantysiliogogogoch is well worth a visit, if only just to get your picture taken with the big sign!

Wales has over 1,200 km of coastline. The real hidden gems of the north west coast of Wales are the beautiful beaches along the Llyn peninsula and Ynys Mon (Anglesey) in particular. The scenic Llanddwyn beach with its historical Celtic mythology is the perfect place for some romance as it's where Dwynwen was named the Welsh saint of love.

For the more active visitors, there are many land activities to enjoy - these include Climbing & Abseiling, Gorge Walking, Coasteering, 3 Peak Challenge, Mountain Walking. Now for the watersports enthusiasts, Surf Snowdonia has a man made surf lagoon & Abersoch, Porth Neigwl in particular attracts surfers from all over the UK and is perfect if the swell is just right.

Just ten minutes walk up the road from our house is a leisure and tennis centre where you might enjoy a swim or game of tennis before breakfast.
If you fancy a thrill - Europe`s largest zipwire is in Bethesda, which is only 15 minutes away.

We are open to discovering new places with our children. Please get in touch :)

- Buzzy restaurants: Caernarfon – Sgoops Dutch Pancakes, Osteria, Villa Marina, Tŷ Castell, Ouzo & Olive Greek, all the Indian’s are good and Fu’s is a nice Cantonese. Criccieth – Dylan’s – worth going just for the view. Menai Bridge – Dylan’s, same company, has a lovely place on the Menai Straits. Menai Bridge has lots of choice. Felinheli – La Marina – the nicest place around. We also love going to Swellies for a breakfast, they have the nicest halloumi bagel stack! Beaumaris – if you feel like you want fine dining – The Bull is very nice. Midland Tapas is also excellent. Dinorwig – we love going to a place called Lodge Dinorwig – it’s quite high up in the mountains and is great after a long walk. We’d recommend you walk to the view point through the old quarry. Red Wharf Bay – Tavern on the Bay.
- Cool bars: Bar Bacht – is the smallest bar in Wales and it’s quirky. You can set on the lawn of the Castle walls and watch all the tourists go by. Anglesey Arms – this is very popular in summer and people sit on the wall, some fall into the sea… it’s very high! But there’s always entertainment and a good sunset. Galeri – has a veranda at the back and it’s a nice place to have food and drink whilst the sun goes down. There’s lots to choose from!

Red Wharf Bay – Tavern on the Bay. Rhosneigr – Sandy Mount – the girls will love the beach at Rhosneigr. Trearddur Bay – Sea Shanty – great beach next to it.
- Retail therapy: Abersoch and Beaumaris
- Bit of culture: Llety Arall in town offers guided tours by local poets. Visit any of 100 + castles around here.
- Walks in the park: Bodnant is beautiful.
- Spot of exercise: We have the entire waterfront and beaches galore. Boot camp at the local beach if you want to work up a sweat.
- Day tripping: Adrenaline days – Zip World is the northern hemisphere’s highest zipline – I’ve done it (Phil) and it was better than a sky dive. Pleasure ride over the Menai Straits from Caernarfon airport.
