What you will love about this home
Beautiful west coast Hokianga vacation home located in the absolute mecca heart of the history of Maori's establishment of Aotearoa NZ (and near to Tane Mahuta on the Kauri Coast) - just over an hour away from the east coast Bay of Islands Waitangi Treaty Grounds (location of European's colonization of New Zealand). Accom suitable for 1-20 guests.
ONEPU MOANA RETREAT ("sandy sea") is a beautiful large 6-Bedroom holiday home (complete with two kitchen-dining-lounges) that can accommodate up to 20 guests.
Alternatively, just the 3-Bedroomed Upstairs can be booked for one family, or say 3 x Couples.
Onepu Moana is the only Qualmark'd property in Opononi (a big feather in the cap) providing decor of a high standard).
The little village of Opononi is on the history-rich Hokianga Harbour, in west-coast Northland ... birth-place of Aotearoa (New Zealand), where Kupe (the great Polynesian explorer) first landed and established Maori civilization here.
The Hokianga is where history, holidaying and heaven all merge!
Amenities include:
> Five Queen/Double Bedrooms
> Kids Bunk Room
> 2 x Kitchen-Dining-Lounges
> Large upstairs deck with expansive uninterrupted water views
> Spa-pool on downstairs terrace
> Flagship property in the area
Ideal for self-drive groups of singles/couples and multi-generational extended families, wanting to experience mid to high-end 4-star authentic Kiwi Holiday Home, with impeccable attention to detail.
NOTE-1: Don't hesitate to enquire into just booking the Upstairs as a fully self-contained 1-3 Bedroom Apartment if your property is a smaller value stay
Feel free to check out its website at www.OnepuMoana.com

What you will love about this neighborhood
The Southern Hokianga is a true highlight of the Northland region, and is the birthplace of Aotearoa (New Zealand) - it is where Kupe (the famous Polynesian explorer) first landed on these Shores - in fact straight out of our kitchen window is one of the best views everrrr of Whiria, the hill where Kupe built his Pa (village fortress), and right next door are the eluvial land where he grew his kumara (sweet potato). Our local is akin to history royalty!
Our large deck has spectacular uninterrupted views of the 'sacred' Hokianga Harbour, including enjoying stunning sunsets night after night after night.
> One mile down the road is the little town of Opononi, with its iconic Tavern, wharf and fish-n-chips, plus water-taxis to the massive sand-dunes (free boogie-board included in your fare, to surf the dunes) - and kayaks, stand-up boards and jet-skis all available to hire (including extraordinary jet-ski tours available to learn the hidden gems of the Hokianga)
> Five mins away is the village of Omapere with the century-old Heads Hotel and its wonderful deck - and before it is MANEA Footprints of Kupe, a multi-million 1.5hr multi-sensory experience of Kupe arriving in the Hokianga
> 15Mins away is sweet Rawene, NZ's 2nd oldest European settlement, including the hourly car ferry to take you to explore the northern side of the Hokianga
> Less than 30-mins away is Waipoua Forest on the Kauri Coast, and Tane Mahuta (King of the Forest) which is NZ's largest kauri tree - including very special evening forest walking tours available.
> 45Mins to the incredible Wairere Boulders nature reserve (with their brilliant 1-3hr walks)
> Just over an hour away from NZ's east coast Bay of Islands towns of Paihia and Kerikeri
> Easy fishing off the beach and wharf - or charter a fishing trip over the sand-bar into the Tasman Sea for brilliant fishing!
> For those enjoying being active, there are LOADS of beautiful local walking and cycling tracks
> And/or enjoying cocktails on the deck loungers or spa-pool with its wonderful water views
- Buzzy restaurants: The Landing Cafe has excellent Thai food available as dinner takeaways
- Cool bars: An afternoon beer on the deck of the Opononi Tavern
- Cozy cafés: Brunch at the BoatShed Cafe in Rawene
- Retail therapy: Not a lot - take a bit of cash to the monthly Farmers Market
- Bit of culture: The Hokianga - being the birthplace of NZ - is brimming with culture and history - but MANEA Footprints of Kupe experience is a must-do, and visiting kauri tree TANE MAHUTA God of Waipoua Forest
- Walks in the park: UNTOLD walking tracks
- Spot of exercise: UNTOLD cycling tracks, kayaking, SUPs
- Day tripping: Full-day to explore the Bay of Islands's Paihia, Russel & Waitangi. Full long day to Cape Reinga (top of the North Island) including Ninety-Mile Beach
