What you will love about this home
The country house was built in the 19th century and is a beautiful German farm with a main building, a newly renovated guest house, a huge yard, a beautiful garden, a barn and two other buildings used for storage and workshop. house with. Most guests stay at the guest house which has a bathroom with a shower, a kitchen and two bedrooms overlooking the court yard and with a view into the garden and forest. In the summer tomatoes, apples, herbs, potatos, salad are grown in the garden. For kids we have a small (plastic) swimmingpool. The house is located in the middle of a small village, in beautiful surroundings by small hills and forests. There is a bike trail to the next small town (Stadtroda which is 4km away) and from Stadtroda you get in 20 minutes by car/train to Jena, in 35 minutes from Weimar and in 60 minutes to Erfurt and Leipzig. Many beautiful castles, hiking trails, forrests and beautiful cities are nearby (besides those named also Gotha, Eisenach, Arnstadt and a castle "Leuchtenburg". The train station is 10 minutes by car (or about 25 min by bike) in Stadtroda and the village is also reachable by bus or taxi.

The city of Jena is only 25 minutes by car or by train (from Stadtroda), set in the Saale Valley, and ringed by steep limestone cliffs. Here you can find the Zeiss Planetarium Jena which is the oldest operating planetarium in the world. Goethe, spent a total of five years in the city and fellow writer Friedrich Schiller lived in Jena for 10 years. Near his summer house on Schillergässchen, the oval stone table where he often sat with Goethe remains in the garden to this day. The pretty streets of the Old Town, scattered with cafés, restaurants and shops, are the centre of social, student and literary life in Jena. You can even still see some of the Seven Wonders of Jena here, such as the ornamental astronomical clock on the Town Hall and the Draco. Dating back to around 1600, this terrifying dragon with seven heads is thought to represent a board of examiners at the university, which was founded in 1558.
