Description

Dori has described his/her home in English.

What you will love about this home

Our house north of Seattle is in the lovely seaside town of Edmonds. The house features a large (and rather wild) garden filled with Mark's heirloom fruit trees, berries, and many other unusual plants (including a Loquat!). The house is large and modern, featuring high ceilings and many floor to ceiling windows which make the house light and airy. The south facing courtyard is great for eating al fresco, and the kitchen is well-equipped for all your cooking ventures. There is also a playroom full of toys and games for children. Edmonds has an Amtrak station which is about 1.5 miles from our house, thus it is possible to travel to Edmonds via train. It's easy to catch an Uber or a Lyft from the station. With the extension of the Light Rail to north of Seattle, it is easy to travel from Mountlake Terrace Station to downtown Seattle. We can possibly make a car available for your use while you are here. Although this is our only home, we are open to hosting as we have plenty of room!

What you will love about this neighborhood

Edmonds is a lovely seaside town. The town center features many shops and excellent restaurants, and is the departure point for the Edmonds/Kingston car ferry, a 30-minute ferry crossing, which takes you to the Olympic Peninsula (13th largest national park in the US). There are several public beaches in Edmonds which are great for walking or picnicking. Downtown Seattle is 15 miles away, and can be reached by car or public transportation (drive to one of two nearby transit centers-10 minutes/2.5 miles, bus into downtown; commuter train runs morning and late afternoon). In Seattle you will find everything a big city has to offer, plus great mountain and water views. And don't forget all the fabulous coffee places and hip micro-breweries that Seattle is known for! (Yes, Seattle is home to Starbucks, Amazon, Microsoft, and Boeing... plus many more tech start-ups) The summer weather is perfect...average highs in the 70'sF, overnight lows in the 50'sF. There are many local festivals/concerts/parks to visit, plus our own thriving Edmonds Saturday Market. Hiking is 1-2 hours away. The Cascade National Park (15th largest national park in the US) is 1-2 hours away. We are 3 hours drive from Vancouver, Canada, and approximately 4 hours drive from Portland, Oregon. During the winter there are many cold weather activities available. We are 1-2 hours from several ski areas; you can easily ski, snowboard, cross-country ski or snow shoe. No matter the time of the year, you will find all manner of activities to entertain you while enjoying our comfortable and spacious home.

Additional information

Dori started doing swaps in 2007 while living in Tokyo - she has done over a hundred, all with great success. These swaps were with the start-up HomeForExchange, which became LoveHomeSwap, and then HomeExchange - the reviews were lost along the way;-) We look forward to hearing from you and having you stay in our lovely place!
