What you will love about this home

Our home is located, in the historical Crystal Park gated community, known as the first scenic drive in the west in the early 1900's and 6 miles up a paved mountain road, located at 8700ft in a forested area. That's about 2800' elevation gain and a spectacular drive overlooking the cities of Colorado Springs and Manitou Springs. Wake up to a sunrise view of Cameron Cone right through your glass patio door!

The guest room has a private access for guest to come and go as they please and is located in a finished basement (exception: utility room). With the private entry, walk-out patio door, you can enjoy a cup of coffee on the patio or lower deck and enjoy beautiful mountain views and listen to the sounds of a mountain stream along the edge of the property. The room is 126 sq.ft to include a 20 sq.ft 3/4 walk-in closet and queen size bed. Next to the bedroom is the home office with a desk available for your use. Two additional bedrooms, kitchen and living area (excludes master) can be reserved with this bedroom for a total of three queen bedrooms.

Surrounding the property are pines and aspens with a mountain- fed stream on the edge of the property. The outside of the home is stucco material with 2 large redwood decks.

There is a small fridge on the patio just outside the patio door. Inside is a Keurig coffee maker, microwave, washer and dryer and full bath. The utility room is equipped with weights, home gym, elliptical and treadmill for guest use.

There is no A/C but the temperature of the basement is comfortable and on the cooler side during summer with a ceiling fan and and window as well as the patio door. During winter, there is radiant heat in the floor.

There is no daily housekeeping and no cleaning fee required after your stay.

What you will love about this neighborhood

Access to the home is through a private gate and as a registered guest with the attendant at a guard house. The road is 6 miles of paved road and an elevation gain of about 2800ft which turns to gravel just before approaching the home. People afraid of heights may be nervous driving the mountain road. In summer, the road can be driven with a passenger car. In winter, it will require a 4WD, AWD or studded snow tires after snowfall.

The Crystal Park neighborhood has spectacular mountain views, hiking trails that can only be accessed from inside the Park and is home to a wide variety of wildlife; deer, bear, mountain lion, turkeys and red fox.

Additional information

If you need additional bedrooms, full kitchen and living room facilities, you may use the other listing with two bedrooms and reserve along with this one for the full house (excluding the master bedroom area).

Crystal Park is a gated community. Per HOA policy, rentals are not allowed under 6 months. Exchanges are not rentals as monies do not exchange hands but please state to the gatehouse attendant you are a "guest" of the Schneider's. The gate attendant will open the gate to enter. Outside of gate hours, you may drive past the gatehouse to the gate and use the call box to call us (look up Schneider, Clint or Donna), call, and we will open the gate for you. We will be occupying the upper floors of the home during your visit.

The facilities in Crystal Park:
Pool, tennis courts, volleyball, fishing lake, and historic club house is provided for members only and guests must be accompanied by a member. The roads in the neighborhood may be accessed by guests as well as the many hiking trails. If you would like for us to stay in the house as your host in order to use the above facilities, drive you around to some of the highlights of the city, hiking trails, etc., please feel free to ask us of our availability.

Smoking or other:
No smoking in the house, use of medical or recreational marijuana is not allowed. If you do smoke cigarettes, please depose of them safely and properly. Do not throw them in the yard or out the car windows. We live in a high fire district surrounded by highly combustionable natural materials.

The Crystal Park facilities; pool, clubhouse, tennis/pickleball courts and lake are restricted to members only but the roads and many hiking trails accessed from within the Park are available for use.
Age requirement: 25 or older Maximum people: 2

During winter, living on the mountain is much different than summer. The road to the house can become icy or slick depending on the temperature and a 4WD, AWD or chains (and possibly high-clearance depending on depth of snowfall) are required during and a few days after a snowfall. There may be some snow shoveling involved in the driveway, if we are not home, depending on your length of stay in winter.

Smoking Marijuana, whether medical or recreational is not allowed. The home is in a high fire-danger heavily forested area there-fore outdoor fires are prohibited. If you smoke cigarettes, they must be disposed of properly outside the home and not thrown in the yard or on the roads.

There is no trash pickup. Trash bins are located at the gate and can be dropped off on your way into town. Be sure to use the carabiner-lock as bears are able to open the heavy door. When you are parked in the driveway, lock your vehicle doors. Our bears know how to open them, climb in and get trapped. You will end up with a trashed car. Also, there is a large trash bin in the garage for your use but keep the garage door down when not outside. Yogi makes his rounds when you are looking to get an easy meal.

No cleaning fee if you choose to clean yourself; bathroom area, wash sheets & leave in dryer. Or if you prefer, leave a $30 cash cleaning fee.
