What you will love about this home
Sitting on an acre of land, St. Wolstans is a wonderful, energy efficient home. There is a forested area at the very back of the garden and a football pitch in the front garden. And an automower to keep it all tidy. There is a barbeque and, after dusk, a projector, to organise a giant outdoor cinema, with a wide, blank wall on the side of the house, to watch films against. There is a playground, a basketball court and, in summer, a 13 foot swimming pool (see pictures).
The house is very spacious, with 236 m2. The kitchen is the heart of house and backs onto steps to a modest patio. There is a utility room off the kitchen – with a washing machine and dryer. There is a dishwasher, a fridge and 2 freezers. There are 2 livingrooms downstairs.
The upstairs landing opens up into a balcony arrangement in summer. The house has 4 bedrooms. There are 2 two large showers, a jacuzzi bath and the main bedroom is ensuite. Two rooms have double beds – one is King-sized. Linen and towels will be provided for the duration of a stay. There is also a large garage. Which is also home to our cat 'Waffles'. Lots of bikes and an e-scooter for a child.

What you will love about this neighborhood
Gowran is less than an hour and a half from Dublin city centre. There is a bus that runs directly from Dublin Airport to the village. Gowran is in east Kilkenny, in a region fondly refered to as the Sunny Southeast (the sunny-ish Southeast would be more apt!) Kilkenny is also the heart of Ireland's Ancient East. Steeped in history, the surrounding area is famous for its vibrant towns, rural idylls, hiking trails and water pursuits. Kilkenny is a major tourist destination, with castles, natural wonders, sports, Arts and a gourmet food scene to explore.
Gowran village was an ancient seat of the Kings of Ossory. After the Anglo-Norman invasion, Gowran was given to the aristocratic Butler family. Their Castle, at the heart of the village, is still in residence. Sometime in the 1160's the King of Ossory granted land to the Cistercian Order of monks for an Abbey. The Abbey was patronised by the Butler family. The impressive ruins are decorated by a Gowran Master, whose stone carvings were immortalised in the poetry of Nobel Laureate Seamus Heaney. Gowran Abbey is open to visitors during the summer (see pictures).
Gowran Park is a horse and golf course located in the former Butler Estate near the village. Gowran Park hosts 16 race days throughout the year. The Park also hosts concerts. The village has a shop, a gourmet foodstore, 2 public houses, a petrol station, a post office, a golf club rooftop restaurant and two fast food outlets.
