What you will love about this home
My house is a c. 1914 two-story contributing house to the Hampton Park Terrace National Register District. It is across the street from the largest park on the peninsula.
I bought my house back in 1996 and have slowly restored the house. I know people always say their houses are "steps from everything!" but my house actually is! In fact, I teach at the law school here and walk or ride my bike to my office in the heart of the social district instead of driving.
The nieghborhood is great! We were listed on the National Register for our concentration of houses from the 1910s and 1920s, and mine is one of the many contributing houses. I am about 200 feet from the largest park on the peninsula of Charleston with flowers, running trails, bike lanes, etc. There is never a problem with parking or noise.
My house is a standard layout for a house from 1914. On the ground floor I have a living room, dining room, kitchen, bath, and laundry. There are four fireplaces in the house, but I have never had them cleaned out, so I don't want any fires in them, but they look great! Heart pine floors, big pocket doors, etc.
Upstairs, there are three bedrooms and two bathrooms. There is also a den where I have a TV (with Netflix, but not other streaming services since I don't really watch it much). Two bedrooms have two-person beds, and the third has a single. There is also a pull-out bed in the living room, and someone could always sleep on the sofa in the den. But, I am not listing the house as including those temporary sleeping spots.
The front of my house has a big, two-story porch. One of the second floor bedrooms has its own front porch access.
About 15 years ago, some neighbors of mine did a house exchange through this site, and they loved it. So, I decided all these years later to give it a shot. I'm new to this, so please feel free to ask anything you want that I should have included but didn't.
Because I teach at the law school, I have long breaks during the summer, Spring Break (which fluctuates), and Thanksgiving to New Years. I often teach during the summer, so availability is hit and miss, but otherwise, I'm pretty flexibie.

What you will love about this neighborhood
Hampton Park Terrace is a quiet neighborhood that was listed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1997 for its concentration of 1910s and 1920s houses. It is immediately outside the gates of the Citadel (state college) and adjacent to the largest park on the peninsula. There are several local restaurants within a ten minute walk, and the tourist center of Charleston is a short, free bus trip (20 minutes), walk (45 minutes) or drive (10 minutes) away.
