Description

Amanda & Stephen (Chris) has described his/her home in English.

What you will love about this home

A spacious, well-lit family home. The main floor features a large open concept living and dining room, showcasing beautiful floors, large windows, vaulted ceilings, stylish furniture, a century old piano that traveled across the United States in a covered wagon in the early 1900s, and "showcase" stairway to the upper floor. The dining area leads into a fully equipped kitchen and breakfast nook, and the family room and huge sectional sofa that doubles as a sleeping location. The family room exits through glass doors to a large private outdoor garden/yard with furniture, grill (Traeger and Weber) and 14 foot rectangle trampoline for the kids. Downstairs also hosts a private room with queen size pull out bed with memory foam mattress and a full size bath and toilet room and separate laundry room. This room serves as a guest area but also our theater room. There is a 120 inch screen and a 4k projector. It's like having our own private movie theater. Xbox 1 for the gamers.
Upstairs includes a master bed and bath with a kingsize adjustable bed (one side of mattress is softer, the other is more firm), each side can be controlled independently if you are keen to sit up in bed for reading or watching TV. The ensuite bath includes a separate shower, private toilet room, large garden soaking bathtub and double sinks. Two smaller rooms for the children host single beds and an engaging toy/play room (Toys, books, Legos, huge dress up collection, sensory swing). There is a 3rd bathroom down the hall with a full size tub and glass shower doors. The fifth bedroom in the loft will be locked and will serve as a storage place for us to cram as much of our junk that you don't need in your way!
Included is a garage with a pool table and ping pong table top and work bench.
Rent a car or ask us about using our Subaru Outback parked in the garage to take day trips to California Wine Country, San Francisco, explore a variety of ghost towns, spend the long summer days at Lake Tahoe. The Outback easily navigates mountain roads with all wheel drive (seats 5).
Other amenities include: Highspeed WiFi, Netflix, Hulu, Amazon Video, and Disney Plus. 4 TVs (one in the garage) central air conditioning, weekly yard service. Coded door entry, no pesky keys!
The House is run on solar energy as well.
We have an outdoor kitty named Jackson. He keeps rodents and other critters at bay for a stretch of houses along our street. We ask that our guests put some food in his bowl each day, however, as he handles the mice for our neighbors they love him and are happy to feed him for us if this is an inconvenience for our guests.

What you will love about this neighborhood

The home sits in the foothills of gorgeous mountains in a very safe neighborhood in Northwest Reno. Down the road is a park and playground, walking distance. Behind the house is access to miles of walking/running or bicycling trails through the beautiful high desert mountain terrain. A 10-15 minute walk gets you to a grocery store shopping center, a pharmacy, several restaurants and bus stops. A 10 minute drive gets you downtown to the sparkling lights and casinos and a 40 min drive west takes you to the internationally acclaimed Lake Tahoe famous for its striking clear blue waters. Beach chairs, children's kayak, bicycles, are all available for your use. Clear blue skies with over 300 days a year of sunshine, open terrain for exploring, hiking and pure freedom!

Lake Tahoe access is the prime selling point for our home! Majestic, extraordinary, and pristine are suitable adjectives for describing Lake Tahoe, the largest Alpine lake on the North American continent. ... Located at the California-Nevada border, just 30 miles from our home. Lake Tahoe attracts visitors from all over the world to see and enjoy its quiet beauty. It is one of the purest water lakes in the world, with the water coming in at 99.994% pure. Lake Tahoe ranks amongst the world's 20 oldest lakes. Beaches, hiking, dining, water sports....this is our summer haunt! See pictures of the lake on our post.
Golfing- several World Class golfcourses are within a 15-30 minute drive. Reno is known for a place that you can swim, ski, and golf in the same day!
Yosemite National Park- just a 3.5 hour drive. A must do if you are a hiker!
Skiing- Depending on the snow pack some ski-resorts an hour away may still have skiing available in late June.
Mining- A favorite for our boys is visiting Crystal Peak. A mine's leftovers! A drive up a pretty bumpy road leads you to a peak of crystals (quartz) litering the mountainside, free for the adventurers taking, with breathtaking views! (posted is a picture of the mountain views from the Peak).
Ever heard of Burning Man?
Reno is the last civiled stopping point before thousands people build an instant city in the Black Rock Desert (2 and 1/2 hours away). Exploring the Playa desert is an experience no matter what time of year!

June is the River Festival- the Truckee River runs through downtown Reno, full of live music, crafting fairs, brewer's sharing tastes of their beer. Children play and splash in the river, kayakers play in the white water park, tumbling through the waters for all the people to watch.

Hiking opportunities galore- one of our favorites is the old railroad tunnels, combined with some Chinese immigrant building history and local street graffiti art. It's a hike accessible to all abilities and ages, a nice break from heat of the day in the tunnels.
