What you will love about this home

The Space

- House located in a private gated community within another gated community - a rare commodity for being in the heart of the town
- One bedroom with two twin beds and full bathroom on the first floor. Two bedrooms with kind size beds, each with it's own full bathroom on the second floor. Master bedroom features a spacious walk in closet, a shower cabin and an extra large bathtub for two people.
- Open plan kitchen, dining and living room on the first floor
- It is safe for children to play outside of the house since there is a gate that prevents them from running outside.
- Housekeeping service 6 days a week included for anything from washing dishes to personal laundry.
- The house used to be our primary residence up until now and has been well loved and cared for. All the furnishings, equipment and design items are of best quality since they have been initially chosen for our personal use.
- San Miguel loves to party, especially on weekends and we love it about this town. However, there are times when you just want to sleep. Noise-cancelling windows installed in the house will allow you to enjoy the peace when you need it most.

Guest Access

Guests have access to all parts of the house apart from:
- the cellar storage area;
- back of the kitchen storage;
- 3 of 6 panels of closet space in the Master Bedroom walk in closet;
- 3 cupboards in the kitchen;
- there is ample space left, so don't worry about not being able to fit in.

Our trusted housekeeper - Rocio will be present 9am to 5pm every day during short term stays and 6 days a week during long term stays. She has her own key and goes about her business discreetly. She only speaks spanish, but understands very basic english.

Other Things to Note

- We don't use microwave oven for health reasons. The house is equipped with an electrical toaster oven and plenty of pots and pans for reheating.

What you will love about this neighborhood

The Neighborhood

We love our neighborhood and our neighbors!

Our house is walking distance to the town center with a beautiful catholic church. You can wake up and walk to one of the best bakeries in town for a freshly baked croissant and fresh cup of coffee, or you can walk to the market, buy fresh produce and meat and cook up a storm in our gourmet kitchen. Every Saturday there is an organic-market two minutes away from the house which offers great Mexican breakfast/lunch food (cooked by the ladies from surrounding communities), local produce, cheeses, meats and bread, among other things. One Sunday a month there is a Flea Market with can be quite interesting (best reached by taxi or local bus). A wonderful Italian trattoria is just steps away. A beautiful park with kids area is a wonderful place for jogging or just strolling, also minutes away.

Multiple curious little shops varying from hippie to chic, art galleries and local arts and crafts (artesanias) for various budgets are all around town.

San Miguel de Allende in general, although a small town, is quite cosmopolitan. It represents around 30 different nations and a great expat community. You can find anything from a local cantina (essentially a bar where only men were allowed in the olden days) to an upscale restaurant of an international level. San Miguel de Allende is a clash of old and new which makes up for an invigorating travel experience. It sure is fun for us to live here, so we are confident you won't get bored during your stay.

You can start your day with a delicious breakfast and exceptional coffee in Cafe Monet (30 sec walk), Cafe Rama (2 min walk), Mesa Grande - excellent bakery (4 min walk), Lavender Cafe - best coffee in town (6 min walk)

Then go out and stroll in the town peeking into multiple shops each with it's own personality: Collectivo Mexicano - goods made my mexican designers;
Caminos Silvestres - an exquisite store that specializes in everything bird-oriented - from jewelry to books to home-ware to hand-blown glass humming bird feeders;
Mixta - one of a kind eclectic designer pieces, jewelry, clothes, decorations, bedding, furniture, accessories;
Talula de la Lune - Australian designer residing in Mexico specializing in leather goods;

Among other recommendations: The Shop, Sollano 16, Fabrica Aurora

In the afternoon set out for lunch to one of the nearby restaurants:
La Trattoria - old school Italian
The Restaurant - thursday night burger night is a must!
La Grotta - a cozy spot for a friendly gathering
Moxi restaurant (in Hotel Matilda) - where the famous mexican chef Enrique Olvera works his magic
Mario's - Mazatlan-style fresh and simple seafood fare. The sea scallops are divine! (Note: most items are served raw)
... or get fresh ingredients from nearby providers and the mercado and cook up a storm in the house kitchen designed for a chef.

And finally at night go out for a drink to the rooftop of the Rosewood hotel for an unbeatable view;
Tapas Bar - for a drink and fabulous tapas from a Swedish couple residing in town
Hotel Matilda Bar for an upbeat atmosphere;
La Azotea;
...or order some pizzas and enjoy a night-in on the sofa with a movie and a glass of wine. Blockbuster is 1 minute away, just in case.
