What you will love about this home
Our house was restored and extended in 2015. A Georgian period house,it has the original features intact with a modern, extension.
The house has four bedrooms, one of which is en-suite. The ground floor consists of two large drawing rooms, with one of them opening into an open plan kitchen/dining room. At the rear of the kitchen is a patio/BBQ area in an enclosed, south-facing garden.
Lying in the centre of Kilkenny city, our house is directly across the street from Kilkenny Castle with its extensive parklands, riverside walking trails and picnic grounds and playground. The house has off street parking ( with car exchange negotiable) but all local amenities are within walking distance.
Kilkenny Castle, the National Craft Gallery, the Butler Art Gallery and the weekly farmers' market are all at the end of the street which is the starting point of Ireland's "Medieval Mile", the historic core of the city with its attractions strung out between the Castle and St. Canice's Cathedral at the other side of town.
Kilkenny is the perfect base from which to explore Ireland with good road and rail networks to all major cities and the South East coast. The city itself is one of the main tourist centres in Ireland with an array of pubs, clubs, boutiques, cathedrals, theatres, brewery and museums clustered in its historic centre. Kilkenny is famous for its festivals with music, comedy, food and film all being catered for at various times of the year- see www.visitkilkenny.ie
There are dedicated walking, cycling food and craft trails leading out from the city to help tourists explore the attractions on offer in the surrounding area along with multiple golf courses, horse riding, fishing and water sports.
We have three daughters aged 11, 9 and 6 and the home is child friendly with toys, bicycles (for children and adults) and other facilities available.
Our car is available as part of any exchange.
