What you will love about this neighborhood
Our apartment is centrally located at the intersection of Lindengasse and the quiet part of Neubaugasse. Vienna’s 7th district is part of the extended city centre and a popular area for shopping, going out and cultural activities. The population share of 20-39 year olds is 36% and thus significantly higher than average in Vienna. This underlines that the 7th district is a district for young entrepreneurs, artists and creative – which is also demonstrated by the many boutiques and cafés.
Even today, the many well preserved Biedermeier-style buildings and narrow streets have preserved the character of the old village.
Important museums: MuseumsQuartier with Leopold Museum (Egon Schiele collections and works by Gustav Klimt, Oskar Kokoschka and Albin Egger-Lienz) and MUMOK (Museum Moderner Kunst) as well as Hofmobiliendepot (Imperial Furniture Depot).
Mariahilfer Straße and Neubaugasse - located just around the corner - are two of the most popular shopping streets in Vienna. Mariahilfer Straße bacame a huge pedestrian zone. Viennese then enjoy Christmas shopping without being disturbed by traffic. Spittelberg is only 5-6 walking minutes away and famous for its Christmas market every December.
Vienna’s first district is the historic centre of the city and part of the cultural heritage Historic Centre Vienna. It is surrounded by the Ringstraße a magnificent boulevard with many historic buildings – from university to parliament. It is a 15 min walk away from our apartment.
Naschmarkt is also only a 15 minutes walk away and it is one of the largest markets for vegetables, fruit and meat, but also a popular district for Vienna’s night owls. Nearby you will find many cafés, bars, restaurants, most gay places in Vienna, and the Theater an der Wien. This theatre is renowned for its opera productions but also because Beethoven used to live here.
