What you will love about this home
I live on a peninsula 10 minutes from town. It sits on a bluff providing glorious views of the ocean from nearly every room. The sun room surrounded by windows on three sides is my favorite room for viewing sea and sky. The back deck is an ideal place to sun bath, picnic, or watch the sun set. Lovely gardens surround the house with a private backyard patio. Although the house is set on a corner lot, there is sparse traffic but for the dog walkers headed to the private beach, an easy three minute walk.
The spacious combination living room/ dining room is the main living area. The dining table accommodates six diners. A small kitchen is stocked for gourmet cooking . The bathroom is narrow but includes a combined shower and bathtub elegantly lined in Italian marble. An outdoor shower extends bathing options. The bedroom is furnished with a very comfortable queen sized bed. The sun room serves as a second bedroom equipped with a full size futon.

This area of Ipswich, known as Great Neck is a slice of paradise with its natural beauty and peaceful, quiet setting. Clark Beach is a great beach for kids since the water gets deep very gradually and is generally 5 - 10 degrees warmer than the open Atlantic. It is also a great place to hunt for sea glass, fish for striper, kayak along the shore or lounge in the sun absorbed in a gripping novel. Clamming and harvesting oysters in season is also possible by obtaining a temporary clamming license at the town hall.
This area is also a haven for wildlife. Located on the migratory path, a variety of birds come through our area during the spring and fall. The tidal marshes, large tracks of conservation land, and Clark Pond provide a home for swans, ducks, songbirds, beaver and deer. Great blue herons, egrets, seal and otter are other inhabitants one may see at one of the two nature observatories or while strolling along the shore.
Biking, walking, boating, swimming and kayaking are popular during the spring, summer and fall while sledding, cross country skiing, ice skating, hockey, or ice surfing on Clark Pond are popular winter activities.
The town of Ipswich is known for its rich history and fresh seafood. Ipswich clams are shipped all over the country.
Ipswich boasts at preserving the most first period homes of any town in the country. House museums, Crane Castle at Castle Hill, a variety of restaurants and shops provide cultural and culinary delights. Crane’s Beach, a 10 minute drive, offers miles of pristine sandy beach as well as paths through the dunes for hiking. Nearby coastal towns such as Salem, Rockport, Gloucester, Essex, and Newburyport provide additional places to explore, shop, antique, attend concerts, and feast on local cuisine.
Boston, is an easy 50 min. drive or train ride from the Ipswich depot to North Station, provides additional entertainment options such as walking the Freedom Trail, a Red Sox game at Fenway, or theater, dance, and concert options. Day trips to other New England states is easy from this central location.
