OPEN FOR MAY|AUGUST 2025!! Urk is first mentioned in historical records dating to the 10th century. In 1939, a dike from the mainland to Urk ended the town's island status, just as the Afsluitdijk project was changing the salt water Zuiderzee surrounding Urk to the less saline IJsselmeer. Later in the 20th century, seabed areas surrounding Urk were reclaimed from the sea and became the Noordoostpolder. The mainstay of the town's economy has always been fishing. Religious life has also traditionally been very important to Urk's inhabitants, with active, conservative congregations of the Dutch Reformed denominations playing key roles in the life of the community. One of the oldest and most distinctive dialects of Dutch is the language which is spoken in Urk. Nearly everybody in this village speaks this dialect and uses it in daily life. Urk has the highest fertility rate in the Netherlands. 50% of the people is younger than 25 years old.
Our home dates to the 2003 and is a well-kept terraced house. It is just ten minutes by bike to historic Urk attractions, including the boulevard and the lighthouse. Arranged over two floors, and gardens in the front and the back of the house. Our home has one double bedroom and three children's rooms. We have a separate living room. We have also a bathroom with bath and shower and toilet. And also a toilet downstairs We have all the modern electrical appliances that you would expect, such as washing machine, washmachine, dryer, LAN and wifi connection. Our house is full of toys for anyone exchanging with young children up to 7 years old. We can offer a family with a toddler most of the things they would need - such as a high-chair, dresser, etc. Finally, we have a back garden with a barn and garden furniture and a lounge at the front of the house. In the barn are toys to play outside, bikes(kids and adults). We take great pride in our home, which is clean and in good decorative order.

What you will love about this neighborhood
Urk is an historical village nearby a lake. Our house is situated in a new district from Urk. And is within cycle distance from the historical center and the harbor. At the harbor you find shops, restaurants, etc. At 2 min. (walking) you find a bakery, butcher, greengrocer and a supermarket(shopcenter). We lives in a childfriendly neighborhood close by the forest and the lake. In the front of our home are lots of playgrounds. You can take our bikes to the polder and see the fields with tulips blooming in the spring. Visit by car the very old Hanze city's Kampen, Zwolle of Deventer. Also you can visit the villages in Friesland specially Stavoren and Hindeloopen, or the 'Venetia' of the Netherlands Giethoorn and the Weerribben. Amsterdam is one hour by car.
