What you will love about this home
A short walk along a narrow path takes you away from the sounds of cars and motorbikes and into the magical compound of Villa Semua Suka, which means "everybody likes'. Bungalow Jepun is contained within the same walled compound and lush gardens as Villa Semua Suka, and has one queen-size bedroom, and one large bathroom with both an outdoor and indoor shower and a bathtub. The outdoor veranda, swimming pool, gazebo and garden are all part of your living area.
It was completed to Western standards with a Balinese aesthetic, and was built on the lower level of a former rice field. It has a fish pond and small waterfall, its own garden, outdoor loungers, umbrella, a small veranda with a table and 2 chairs and another comfortable chair for relaxing.
Bungalow Jepun has a queen-size bed, air conditioning, a flat screen TV and DVD player, iPod player, refrigerator and small daybed, as well as wireless internet throughout the grounds. Your stay at Bungalow Jepun can include ($5 per person) a gourmet breakfast featuring our own house-made bread and jams, fresh fruit, choice of eggs, pancakes, and local specialties, plus great Balinese coffee! You'll be well taken care of by our staff led by Made' Pia
Made' can also help with arrangements for day trips, rafting, downhill biking, cooking classes, etc.
The Bungalow is located on a quiet walking path about 200 meters from the main road and is in a small neighborhood where you will pass ex-pats, local Balinese and villas for tourists.Less than 5 minutes walk down the path is an excellent Yoga studio, 4 small, local restaurants and a large supermarket. A few more minutes walk you will find some wonderful massage spas.
You have in Bungalow Jepun, the quiet of the village of Penestanan and the convenience of being just a 20 minute walk from the town of Ubud, where you can find many excellent restaurants, museums, galleries and shopping fun!

What you will love about this neighborhood
Our neighborhood
Restaurants --a 3 minute walk down our path are 4 small local restaurants, all quite good. From our house you walk straight to the Yellow Flower Café, which does an excellent Balinese buffet every Sunday night, and serves breakfast, lunch & dinner every day; a little further down is LaLa Lillie, also a full menu, all day; close by is Ibu Putu who serves real traditional Balinese food at very low prices; and close to Lillies is Made’s Warung, also quite good.
A further walk into the town of Penestanan is the Vespa Café, which is quite popular with ex-pats and serves a more western menu. In another direction is a street with traffic and a quite a few cafes and restaurants including Alchemy, very popular with the Yoga/New Age crowd as it is a raw food restaurant. There are many more eateries of all types and prices, especially inUbud. We have a house book with recommendations.
Bintang Market--You may want to buy food or drink for yourself and luckily for us we are 5 minutes from the Bintang Supermarket, which has a pretty good selection of produce, dairy, juices and all the basics. [When you shop please bring your own tote bag so you do not have to use plastic—a big problem on Bali.] You can pick up a taxi in front of the store, and use one of the 5 ATM machines.
Yoga—Right past Yellow Flower is an excellent yoga studio, intuitiveflow.com owned and run by Linda Madani, one of the most respected teacher/healers in Ubud. In town there a number of yoga places with many classes all day long. Ubud also has many New Age classes and teachers of all kinds.
Spas—Well, what can we say about Bali and spas? There are so many places for massage and treatments of all types—more than you can imagine. Our neighborhood spa, Sedona, is very good and reasonably priced as is Putri Bali, a little further up the road. But we have brochures at the house for spas of all prices, so go ahead—pamper yourself!
Galleries, Museums, Shopping—Ubud has almost all of the Museums in Bali and many, many galleries—it is the art center of the Island; and shopping is just waiting for you—clothes, souvenirs and more! Take your time and walk, walk, walk.
Activities—There are many kinds of adventure activities for those so inclined and either us orMade’ can help you book. Try rafting, downhill cycling, early--morning climb of a volcano, hiking, et al. Ubud also offers lots of classes, like cooking, batik-making, paper-making, wood-carving, Balinese dance, mask carving and more!
One thing we love is the Herbal & Rice Field Walk followed by the making of herbal products.Fun, informative and very interesting!
Night Life—Not a lot of this in Ubud, but there is the Jazz Café featuring music and good food 6 nights a week; Bar Luna; Laughing Buddha and some clubs on Monkey Forest Road. This town closes up early.
In the house you will see our book with flyers, brochures, menus, maps, et al.
And—if you are interested in renting a motorbike, we know of a couple of places. Remember to wear a helmet!
