Lavender Cottage sets in an organic orchard, amid blossoming geraniums and olive trees, with its own private patio. It is one of the three independent residences of Chroussiano Farmhouse ( http://chroussiano.com/).
Built out of love, enthusiasm and respect for the environment and the Cycladic architectural tradition, it radiates a homely warmth, helping our guests feel in harmony with the Cycladic countryside landscape.
A spacious residence of 60 sq m, with unobstructed views to the nearby pine wood of the village of Chroussa and the endless Aegean blue. Meet the sheltered little patio, a hospitable spot any time of day. “Skepana” is the word we use in Syros for any part of the house whose orientation keeps it protected from the wind, the rain or the hot sun, and there is no better description for this patio. On the ground floor you will find the living room, the kitchen, the bathroom and the bedroom with its double bed. A marble table dining suite, a kerosene lamp with a turquoise opal glass and ceramic art objects give this space its distinguishing character. Climb the wooden ladder in the living room and you will find yourself on a loft, a favourite spot with all of our guests, little or grown-up. The view of the surrounding farm and sounds echoing from the village will make you reluctant to leave this little “nest at the top”. There is more chance for play in the backyard under the palm tree, where a stone table, scattered logs, various toys and a swing hanging from an inviting olive tree await our little friend.
Take a walk around our organic farm and pick fruits and vegetables, work with us and pick olives, almonds, grapes and herbs...or just relax and let yourself be inspired of the nature beauty. And while you gaze you may find out why the gentry of the past chose Chroussa as their retreat…

What you will love about this neighborhood
At first there was grandma’s old house in the orchard, on top of that gentle ridge, overlooking the Aegean blue; Immersed in blossoming geraniums, aging olive trees and the fragrance of citrus fruit. All set in the pine-forested village of Chroussa, with its echoes of old-time genteel…
Chroussa's farms are built in traditional style and are typical of this kind of architecture in Syros. One also finds some surprisingly grand country houses in neoclassical style, dating from the 19th century and screened from the road by pine groves. Amazingly green gardens thrive in the shade of these tree. You can enjoy walking around the village of Chroussa or trekking at the north of the island, where you can find the best beaches. Chroussa is 8km far from Hermoupolis. The nearest beach is Vari and Mega Gialos, 2km away, while all the great beaches of the island are not further than 10 to 15 minutes. In the village you can find a yummy greek taverna. The nearest market is in Vari village. The bus station is 500m away from our farm.
Syros island is found almost in the centre of Cyclades, 83 naval miles from Piraeus and 62 naval miles from Rafina. The travel with ferry-boat lasts roughly four hours, while with the modern speedboats it lasts 2 hours.
From the hill of Ano Syra you can see many islands and immediately you will understand why Syros developed in the administrative, commercial, intellectual and cultural centre of Cyclades. Syros is also called 'The princess of Cyclades'.
