What you will love about this home
Beautiful and sunny ancestral country home in the heart of the small village of Vallée-Jonction, located only 30 minutes away from Québec city. You’ll also enjoy our compact little motorhome fully equipped to take you camping all across Québec and Eastern Canada. More on that later!
The house is built in the hillside of a valley, nestled under a large elm. From the balcony in the master bedroom you have a lovely view of the village and the river. The house was built in the late 1920's, but has been completely restored, so it offers a nice mix between antique and modern furnishings. We love art so you will find that most rooms are filled with artworks, which contribute to give our home a unique and warm atmosphere.
Both bedrooms are on the second floor and they both have queen-size beds. On the ground floor there is a spacious and functional kitchen, a dinning room, a reading room and a large invinting entrance. The bathroom which has a shower, sink and toilet is also on the groundfloor. The laundry room is equipped with a washer and dryer. It is in the basement. There is a finished family room in the basement with TV, DVD, Apple TV and a computer with high speed internet. There is also a Wi-Fi internet connection available throughout the house.
Behind our house, under the shade of the elm, there is a nice patio with a BBQ and a large table for six so you can enjoy a nice meal outside on a hot summer day. There is a fire pit if you feel like having a camp fire in the evening. Finally, under the upstairs balcony there is another covered porch with a porch swing. It is a great place to go read or relax with a nice view of the village and its church.
The house is very conviently located. All services, businesses and activities offered in the village are within a few minutes walk of our home. Our home is a 30-minute drive from the beautiful and historic Québec City, a 2-hour drive from Sherbrooke and the scenic Eastern townships, as well as a 3-hour drive from the vibrant downtown of Montréal.
One of our cars is a small 18’ 2019 class B motorhome. It is small enough to park in the city or let you camp under the stars in any of our national parks. It is a 4-seater equiped with a double bed, a toilet, double fridge, an instant water heater, two burner stove, microwave, 285 W of solar panels and more. You’ll love to see Canada’s great outdoors in this camping car.

What you will love about this neighborhood
Our home is located in the oldest part of the village of Vallée-Jonction. The village has a population of about 2000 people. Our region is known for its warm and colourful people. Just down the street from our home you will find an excellent french deli. The owner makes his own sausages, pâtés, pies, and other food items. We strongly recommend going for a little taste of our local flavour. Within a 10 minute walk from the house there are three excellent restaurants: an asian restaurant operated by a Japanese who moved here a few years ago, an excellent french restaurant located inside the oldest house in the village and a nice pub built inside the old barber shop next to the old railway station. We recommend the last two restaurants for their amazing outside terasses and their breathtaking views of the river and the valley.
Within a five-minute walk from our home there is a grocery store, a pharmacy, a post office and a bank. We are also located 2 minutes away from a beautiful bike path that loosely follows the river for over 30 kilometers in the bottom of the Valley. In the winter there is a small ski hill which you can see from our house. It only takes about 3 minutes to get there by car.
The historic railway station in the village houses a small museum open on Sundays during the summer months. It is always nice to go take a walk along the river and pass by the station.
We are located in the Chaudière-Appalache region, which is rich in regional parks. Many hiking or snowshoeing trails are available to you (depending on the season), and they are within a 30 to 60-minute drive. The Lac St-François is the closest lake of a nice size, and it is 21 km long. It is about a 60 minute drive from our house.
For the best shopping, we recommend taking a 30-minute drive to Québec city, where there is a large array of shopping malls, as well as some very nice boutiques in the quartier St-Roch and the Petit-Champlain in Old Québec. Historic Old Québec is simply amazing and we never tire of going to spend a day getting lost within its walls, in its narrow one-way streets lined with stone buildings with tin roofs. Québec city also offers a veriety of museums, cultural events and festivals throughout the year.
