What you will love about this home
Set in a 1 acre garden in Acacia Bay, this architecturally-designed house was built in 1996 and completely renovated in 2011. It is 460m2 (5,000 sq ft) all on one level with 3 bedrooms, lounge, dining, library, office, 2 bathrooms and extra guest toilet. The grounds have been extensively planted with NZ native trees and shrubs, water features, bush walk and sculptures.
All bedrooms have flat screen TVs, access to decks and extensive views over Lake Taupo. The master bedroom (super-king bed) has full ensuite with spa bath. The second bedroom has a king-size bed and a third room has a king single with trundler single.
The main lounge has 65" flat screen TV, home theatre and extensive classical music system, Steinway grand piano, open fire and panoramic views over the lake and surrounding farmlands. The deck outside the dining room has 2 additional dining tables and a BBQ.
An extensive collection of world art books and a wide range of literature is set in a cosy library with afternoon sun. This opens to a sculpture courtyard.
The main feature of the entire property is the extensive collection of over 200 works (mainly) New Zealand artworks representing a life-time of collecting and dealing in fine art.
The property would appeal to mature travellers with a love of the arts. it is NOT suitable for young children.
A Jacuzzi on the front deck can be left running (by arrangement).

What you will love about this neighborhood
Taupo (pop 30,000) is located in central North Island: by car 3 hours from Auckland and 4 hours from Wellington. Hawkes Bay's wonderful wine and art deco district (Napier/Hastings) is 2 hours away and it is a 1 hour drive to Rotorua or the Waitomo limestone caves. Also one hour from central plateau mountains with winter skiing (july/august) and all year walking/hiking trails, including the world famous Tongariro Alpine Walk. All weather tennis courts and lakeside swimming 2 mins drive.
Taupo is also world famous for fly fishing, with lake and rivers within 10-40 min drive. Waders, nets, rods, etc are here for your use.
Three international golf courses are within 10 minutes drive and a fourth (Kinloch, designed by Jack Nicklaus) is 20 mins away. RH mens golf clubs are here for your use.
