What you will love about this home

LONGER TERM EXCHANGES PREFERRED during 2021 and 2022.
We are both in our late 50s, designers, and we fell in love with the friendly village of Kommetjie, on Cape Town's Southern Peninsula (40 minute drive from Cape Town's Waterfront). We bought a run-down bungalow several years ago, which we transformed into a large (appox 3500sqf/300sqm), Cape-Cod-style beach house, with a trampoline and a 40ft (12 metre) lap-pool. The house has a large open plan kitchen-diner-lounge downstairs, opening onto a sheltered outside barbecue (braai)-dining area with a table seating 14, overlooking the sun-deck and lap-pool. On the ground-floor we also have a separate, but interconnected one-bedroom flat with a king-size bed, two daybeds in its lounge, kitchenette, dining area and separate bathroom with a shower, as well as a secluded interconnected courtyard area with a tiny fish-pond. DUE TO COVID-19 THIS FLAT IS CURRENTLY RENTED OUT, AND THEREFORE NOT INCLUDED AT THE MOMENT. Upstairs is a comfortable lounge/TV-room (DVDs and Netflix only) and three bedrooms; a double/twin bedroom, small double guest-room, and a very large master bedroom with en-suite bathroom. In the garden we can include a lovely rustic wooden guest-room with access to its own toilet.

What you will love about this neighborhood

We are set back by one road from one of the most beautiful beaches in the world and it takes only about 5 minutes to walk there.

You can read about our sweet little village on this website: http://kommetjie-accommodation.com/

If you're planning a stay in Cape Town, there are two things you have to decide - where to stay and what to do. The first is easy - Kommetjie is a choice location in Cape Town due to its undeniable charm and unspoilt beauty - something which has become increasingly hard to find elsewhere in Cape Town. Kommetjie is a cosy, charming, unpretentious century old seaside village which has some of the most magnificent beaches to be seen anywhere in the world. The white sands and indigo waters of Long Beach and adjacent Noordhoek beach stretch for kilometres along the coast of this delightful area.

As you plan your travels to Cape Town, are you looking to enjoy a holiday on the beach? Believe it or not, this type of experience is not as easy to find in Cape Town as you may think. Most beach suburbs in Cape Town do not offer real estate literally on the beach and in most cases, there are at least one or two roads between any houses and the beaches.

Kommetjie however, is one of the only areas of Cape Town where your front garden leads onto the sand dunes of Long Beach and the ocean is just metres from your home. Where your children can frolic in the waves and then scamper back up to your beach villa to splash in the pool.

Other than being an excellent family destination, Kommetjie is also ideal for people looking for time out from that busy day to day life of stress, pressure and deadlines. Known for its relaxed slow pace, the essence of Kommetjie is about taking it easy - about chilling, relaxing, enjoying life, enjoying the outdoors, gentle romantic walks on the beaches and beautiful golden sunsets over the ocean. Kommetjie is a place of peace and tranquillity.
