**Please note that our calendar is up to date. We do not do any home exchanges from December through March as it is high rental season. We limit our exchanges to no more than two weeks.
Bella Vista del Mar is located on the "Gold Coast" of Costa Rica which is considered to be the prime location in Costa Rica to vacation. Our home is located in the town of Potrero in an upscale, gated community called Villas Catalina.
Our elegant town home blends spacious living, comfort and luxury with magnificent views of Flamingo Bay, Playa Penca, Playa Prieta, and incredible Pacific sunsets. Sitting on our terrace watching a beautiful sunset with the waves crashing in the background makes time stand still. The shared infinity pool also has a breathtaking panoramic view of the coastline.
Our town home has been tastefully decorated to reflect the Costa Rican culture. All of our furniture has been handmade by Costa Rican craftsman. It has granite and marble counter tops throughout and has all the amenities to make your stay very comfortable.
Bella Vista del Mar is very close to the beach... A quick five minute walk to either a beautiful, secluded white sand or black sand beach. There are many activities including zip line adventure through the trees, horseback riding on the beach, surfing, scuba diving, snorkeling, deep sea fishing, exploring on ATV's, laying by the pool or the beautiful white sand beach or white water canoeing all within 30 minutes of our home.
Our home is 2400 sq. ft.,two story with 3 bedrooms and 3 baths. It sleeps 8 comfortably. The main level includes the living room, dining room, large gourmet kitchen, large outside deck and patio with a beautiful view of the ocean. One this main level is a bedroom with a queen bed and a set of bunk beds that were built to accommodate adults. Many an adult has slept very comfortably in them! The lower level has a large master suite with a king size bed and private bathroom. Also on this level is a second bedroom with a queen bed and attached private bathroom. All the bedrooms have a nice ocean view. A laundry room is also on this floor with washer, dryer and second refrigerator/freezer. All rooms are air conditioned. The home has cable TV, DVD player, CD player, full stereo with inside and outside speakers, high speed internet and telephone. We also have access to Netflix for your pleasure. The Sony sound system has blue tooth capability for easy connection to your smart device.
The beautiful shared infinity pool with spa has two bathrooms/showers and a barbecue. Our home is a non-smoking home although you are welcome to smoke outside. No pets please.
We have a groundskeeper and a maid which comes at the end of your stay. If we are doing an exchange with guest points, you will be responsible for the $140 cleaning fee that is paid to our property management company.

Our oceanside home is located in a quaint community on the Pacific Coast called Potrero overlooking Flamingo Bay. If you have not traveled to Costa Rica before, it is a country of adventure. The people are wonderful and kind. Bella Vista del Mar is perfect for families who want to vacation together in a tropical paradise which offers many recreational activities. Our home is located in a traditional Costa Rican community so it allows for a more authentic vacation while enjoying all of the amenities that you are used to.
Our home is literally a 3-5 minute walk to two gorgeous beaches - Playa Penca and Playa Prieta. Playa Penca is a white sand beach that is shallow for quite a ways out and it protected a bit from riptides. It is a great place for small children to play and for skim boarding. Playa Prieta is a black sand beach which is great for body surfing and surfing. Both are great places to fish.
There are many fun restaurants near our home with excellent food. The food and water are safe in Costa Rica so you don't have to worry about getting sick. You can dine by candlelight literally on the beach or eat fish tacos at Las Brisas, the little bar right near our home. Also close to our home is a wonderful cafe that serves breakfast and lunch everyday and delicious coffee. Within a 5 minute drive there are many choices for dining from fancy to casual. Sentida Norte is more fancy with a gourmet menu and breathtaking views just a few minutes from our home. Perla's is a great bar/restaurant a few minutes drive with live music often and a great menu.
Within 35 minutes is Tamarindo and Playa Grande, one of the surfing capitals of the world. Right near our house are multiple activities including horseback riding on the beach, ATV tours, ziplines, snorkling, deep sea fishing and scuba diving. Within 3 hours is the Arenal Volcano and the Tabicon Hot Springs which are natural hot rivers through lush vegetation. It is truly one of the most beautiful places on earth. White water rafting is available. We did it and it was a wild adventure. Arenal area also has repelling through waterfalls, zip lines that cross rivers and tremendous hiking. Arenal is an active volcano and nightly you can watch lava flow from the top. There are many large national parks within one to three hours which have hiking and tours through the rain forests. There is a vast amount of wildlife.
As far as buying food, there are many options for grocery stores. A few right near our home are small but have the basics. Within 15 minutes are grocery stores that will provide almost anything you would want. We can guide you to the stores that will provide the selection that you may be more accustomed. There is a bakery nearby which has wonderful treats and gelato in the Italian Village. You just have to know where to find these little treasures.
Driving in Costa Rica is a bit adventurous but most of the roads are paved and the signage is very good. It is fairly easy to drive there. We normally recommend a four wheel drive as it is a smoother ride and your adventures are not limited.
Costa Rica is a tropical paradise...untouched. As Costa Rica is near the equator, its temperature is between 72 - 95 year round. We are on the west coast side which is less humid. The green season is from May through November and the summer season is from December through April. I love to travel to Costa Rica year round. Don't shy away from the green season as it is beautiful and lush during those months and a bit cooler. Most of the time there is an afternoon thunder shower like Hawaii. We have had many beautiful sunny days in Costa Rica during the green season.
